Controller VSC-1. It has been produced on the basis of version D1.7 (software). Pictures in this document may differ from the actual product. 1.2 Documents Commissioning The document entitled “Commissioning” contains the most important steps for the connection and commissioning of the device. Installation and Configuration (this document) The document entitled “Installation and Configuration” contains detailed descriptions of the installation, connection, commissioning and configuration of the device. Safety instructions, general notes and technical data are additionally provided. The target audience is exclusively specially trained and authorized professionals (installers). 1.3 Conventions This document contains various warning words and symbols that indicate potential sources of danger. DANGER DANGER indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. WARNING WARNING indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. CAUTION CAUTION indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury. NOTICE NOTICE indicates practices for preventing property damage, incorrect configurations or faulty operations. Paragraphs in italics provide information on basic principles, special features and efficient procedure as well as general recommendations. www.dallmeier.com 6 VSC-1 2 Safety Instructions Only use this unit if it is technically in proper working order, to the intended purpose and while keeping safety and potential dangers in mind. Qualified personnel Installation, mounting, connection, commissioning and configuration of the unit may only be carried out by qualified personnel. This also applies to the maintenance, testing and repair, whereat the regulations of the DIN VDE 0701 series of standards (repair, modification and inspection of electrical appliances) must be followed. Regulations The use of video and audio surveillance systems in general is strictly regulated. Inform yourself about the applicable laws and regulations regarding data, working and environmental protection before using the unit and ensure compliance with them. System components Only use internal components that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier. Inappropriate internal components can cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and can result in loss of warranty. Modifications Do not make any modifications to the hardware or software that has not been tested and approved by Dallmeier. Inappropriate modifications can cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and can result in loss of warranty. Documentation Carefully and completely read the documents included in delivery. Always observe the contained instructions, notes and warnings. Condensation water If the unit is brought from a cold to a warm environment, resulting condensation water can cause malfunctions and damages. In this case wait (up to 8 hours) until the unit has reached room temperature before commissioning. Operating conditions Unfavourable operating conditions can shorten the life of the unit and can cause malfunctions, damages and data loss and can result in loss of warranty. Observe the specifications given in the technical data, the operating condition requirements and the maintenance instructions. Shocks Shocks can cause malfunctions and damages. The unit may not be moved while in operation. Foreign bodies If objects or liquids get into the unit, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the power plug). Contact the sales partner responsible for your area. www.dallmeier.com 7 VSC-1 Burnt smell If you notice burnt smell or formation of smoke from the unit, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the power plug). Contact the sales partner responsible for your area. Opening The housing of the unit may only be opened by qualified personnel for commissioning, inspection, maintenance and repair. Disposal Disconnect the unit from the power supply. Remove all connected devices. Return the unit to your respective sales partner. www.dallmeier.com 8 VSC-1 3 3.1 General Notes Scope of Delivery Included in the standard scope of delivery is: 1× Keyboard VSC-1 1× Power supply unit (12 V DC) 1× Weidmüller plug connector 8-pin 1× USB cable 1× Documentation “Installation and Configuration” (CD) 1× Documentation “Commissioning” (in print) The scope of delivery may differ depending on the ordered equipment, the device variant or the country of destination. The functional range of the device depends on the ordered equipment or device variant and may differ from this document’s content. Certain functions and features may require an activation that is subject to costs. 3.2 Transportation and Packaging Store the original packaging for transportation at a later date. Dallmeier electronic is not responsible for damage resulting from unprofessional/improper transportation. The goods should only be shipped in their original packaging. If the original packaging is no longer available, ensure that the packaging used sufficiently protects the unit against damage, moisture, heat and cold. 3.3 Appropriate Use The Dallmeier VSC-1 (Video System Controller) is a keyboard for the remote control and display of up to 24 cameras. Dome cameras normally will be connected via a DNI to the recorder. A connection via the serial interface is available for special Dallmeier dome cameras. Risk of serious injury. ¾¾ Ensure that all components are disconnected from power supply before connecting. 5.1.1 VSC-1 and Recorder via USB The VSC-1 can be connected directly via a USB port to the recorder. ¾¾ Connect the VSC-1 to a recorder’s USB interface using a USB cable. Fig. 5-4 No further settings have to be made. 5.1.2 VSC-1 and Recorder via DNI Use a two-wire line to connect the DNI and the VSC-1. ¾¾ Connect . . . . . . Rx+ (Dome) to data input A TxD+ (DNI) Rx- (Dome) to data input B TxD- (DNI) ¾¾ Set the ID number at the camera. NOTICE Potential malfunction of automatic camera switching! The camera’s ID number must correspond to the respective video input on the recorder. ¾¾ Set the relevant protocol (Pelco-P) at the camera. For detailed information refer to the documentation “Installation and Configuration” of the respective camera manual. 5.1.4 Connection DNI and Recorder ¾¾ Connect the DNI master to the recoder’s serial interface using a serial cable (RS232 with 1:1 assignment). Fig. 5-7 www.dallmeier.com 18 VSC-1 5.1.5 Connection DNI network ¾¾ Connect the DNI slaves with the DNI master and to each other using a CAT5 patch cable via the network interface (RJ-45/RS485). Fig. 5-8 5.2 Commissioning When commissioning observe the following order: ¾¾ Connect the DNI master to power supply if required. ¾¾ Connect the dome camera to power supply. ¾¾ Connect the VSC-1 to power supply. ¾¾ Connect the recorder to power supply. ¾¾ Start the recorder. www.dallmeier.com 19 VSC-1 6 Configuration The relevant monitor (VGA or CVBS) and the permission to use the VSC-1 can be set on the recorder independent from the type of connection (DNI or USB). Configuration of the serial interface and the DNI protocol is only required if a DNI is used. ¾¾ Observer the recorder’s documentation “Installation and Configuration”. ¾¾ Login at the recorder as Administrator. 6.1 Permissions on the Recorder The permission Other Permissions / Camera control of the relevant user group has to be activated separately in the User Management. Selection and control of the camera is done on the control station, displaying of the images on a recorder’s monitor. The Video System Controller dialogue allows the specification of the monitor and the split type that will be used. These settings are valid in every mode (with or without login). Additionally the dialogue allows the specification of the permission to use the control station in Sequencer / Live mode (without login). This is done by adopting the permissions of a user group. ¾¾ Open the Video System Controller dialogue via Setup > System > VSC. Fig. 6-1 ¾¾ Set the relevant Monitor. ¾¾ Set the Split type. www.dallmeier.com 20 VSC-1 ¾¾ Set the Permission for the Sequencer / Live mode. ¾¾ Finally confirm with OK. 6.2 Connection DNI 6.2.1 Serial Interface After connecting the DNI master the serial interface must be configured accordingly. ¾¾ Open the Serial Interfaces dialogue via Setup > Interfaces > Serial. Fig. 6-2 ¾¾ Set the COM port to wich the DNI master is connected as Interface. ¾¾ Set DNI (camera control) as Function. ¾¾ Confirm with OK. The Camera Control button will be activated in the Setup > Interfaces dialogue. 6.2.2 Protocol DNI The next step is to configure the DNIs with the required protocols ¾¾ Open the Camera Control dialogue via Setup > Interfaces > Camera Control. ¾¾ Click the Read button. www.dallmeier.com 21 VSC-1 Fig. 6-3 The network’s single DNIs will be displayed in the upper field. The DNI master is always on top of the list and grayed. It can not be selected, because the protocol (DMS-DNI X, version 4 or higher) may not be changed. The DNI slaves (connected to VSC-1 or dome) are will be displayed sorted by their serial number. The VSC-1 DNI must be configured with the kb_pelcX (version 2 or higher) protocol. The Dome DNIs must be configured depending on model / manufacturer with the required protocol. The C_PelcoX (version 4 or higher) is always required for Dallmeier domes. ¾¾ Proceed as follows: ¾¾ Identify the relevant DNI on basis of the serial number. ¾¾ Select the relevant DNI in the Network field. ¾¾ Select the required protocol in the Protocol field. ¾¾ Click on Program to configure the DNI. ¾¾ Close the Camera Control dialogue with OK after the configuration of all DNIs. For detailed information refer to the documentation “Installation and Configuration” of the respective recorder. www.dallmeier.com 22 VSC-1 6.3 Control Protocol VSC Camera and VSC-1 must be assigned the appropriate protocols. NOTICE These values must be set on the VSC-1 for every connected camera: MODEL: DNI PROTOCOL: PEL-P BAUDRATE: 4.8K PARITY: NONE ¾¾ Open the camera configuration dialogue via the shortcut 1 + SET (push 2-3 seconds). ¾¾ Enter the password (default password: 0000). ¾¾ Navigate with the joystick (up/down) by the dialogue: 1. ADRESS: 001 (for camera ID 1) 2. MODEL: DNI 3. PROTOCOL: PEL-P 4. BAUDRATE: 4.8K 5. PARITY: None 6. PROP.: ON 7. SAVE: Save your entry by moving the joystick to the right. 8. EXIT: Close the dialogue by moving the joystick to the right. ¾¾ Close individual dialogues by pressing the CLR button. ¾¾ Close the complete configuration dialogue by pressing the ESC/PWR button. 6.4 Keyboard Functions In the configuration dialogue you can set general keyboard functions such as display lighting, password or key tones. ¾¾ Open the configuration dialogue via the shortcut 2 + SET (push 2 -3 seconds). ¾¾ Enter the password (default password: 0000). ¾¾ Navigate with the joystick (up/down) by the dialogue: 1. COMM: www.dallmeier.com Software version of the keyboard Current date Name of the keyboard If you use several VSC-1 keyboards you can assign here clear IDs for the individual keyboards. Baud rate – required setting: 4.8K. Interface setting – RS485 / RS422. 23 VSC-1 7. SLEEP: Set whether the keyboard is to change automatically into a sleep mode during disuse (intervals: 1 min. / 5 min. / 10 min. / 30 min. / 1 hour). 8. BUZZER: Keytones 9. BACKLIGHT: Display backlight (ON/OFF/AUTO) 10. MOUSE SET: Sensitivity of the mouse control (inactive). 11. PASSWORD: Set a password for the configuration dialogues 12. FACTORY SET: Set back to factory setting 13. SAVE/EXIT: Save your settings with YES + ENT. Close the configuration dialogue with NO + ENT without saving. ¾¾ Close individual dialogues by pressing the CLR button. ¾¾ Close the complete configuration dialogue by pressing the ESC/PWR button. www.dallmeier.com 24 VSC-1 7 Operation ¾¾ Switch between DNI and USB if required. ¾¾ Note the information in the display. 7.1 PTZ Control 7.1.1 Selecting Cameras You can select a connected dome camera via the numeric pad. ¾¾ Enter the number of the camera (e.g. 1 for camera 1). ¾¾ Press the ENT button. ¾¾ Confirm with an individual joystick movement. 7.1.2 Camera Control After selecting a camera this can be controled with the joystick. ¾¾ Move the joystick to the left or right for a horizontal movement (pan). ¾¾ Move the joystick upward or down for a vertical movement (tilt). ¾¾ Turn the joystick to the left (zoom out) or right (zoom in) to reduce or enlarge the scene (zoom). Continous panning ¾¾ Press the key combination 92 + F1 in order to start the continuous anticlockwise panning (360°). ¾¾ Press TELE/L (zoom in) or WIDE/R (zoom out) to enlarge or reduce the scene while panning. ¾¾ Close the continuous panning with an individual joystick move. www.dallmeier.com 25 VSC-1 7.1.3 Functions PTZ cameras have a rule of functions for defining and storing positions and attitudes. The definition of these preadjustments is done via the camera menu. The triggering of the default settings can be performed easily and quickly with the VSC-1. Refer to the documentation of the corresponding camera in relation to the definition of the preadjustments. 7.1.3.1 Preset A preset stores the position and the focus of the camera. After activation of this preadjustment, the camera moves toward automatically to the stored position. ¾¾ Select the relevant camera. ¾¾ Enter the number of the preset via the numeric pad. ¾¾ Press the PSET button. In contrast to the following features a preset can be defiend with the VSC-1. ¾¾ Move the camera to the relevant postiton. ¾¾ Press the PSET button for about 5 seconds. 7.1.3.2 Tour A tour saves a combination of different presets, pattern (see below) and other tours. After activation of this preadjustment, the camera moves toward automatically to the saved positions. ¾¾ Select the relevant camera. ¾¾ Enter the number of the tour via the numeric pad. ¾¾ Press the TOUR button. 7.1.3.3 Pattern A pattern stores a sequence of commands (pan, tilt, zoom), which are given to the camera. After activation of this preadjustment, the camera automatically moves the saved “way” off. ¾¾ Select the relevant camera. ¾¾ Enter the number of the pattern via the numeric pad. ¾¾ Press the PATT button. www.dallmeier.com 26 VSC-1 7.1.3.4 Scan A scan stores twice the position and the camera’s focus and a defined speed of movement. After activation of this preadjustment, the camera moves continuously moves with the defined speed between the two positions. ¾¾ Select the relevant camera. ¾¾ Enter the number of the scan via the numeric pad. ¾¾ Press the SCAN button. 7.2 Replay Control 7.2.1 Selecting a Track On the numeric pad, you can select the track of the connected camera. ¾¾ Enter the number of the camera. ¾¾ Press the Play button. The track of the corresponding camera is displayed. Follow these steps to switch on the track of another camera. ¾¾ Enter the number of the camera. ¾¾ Press the Play button. 7.2.2 Control of Replay The replay can be controlled with the joystick. ¾¾ Press the joystick right for forward replay. ¾¾ Press the joystick left for reverse replay. ¾¾ Move the joystick in the center position to pause replay. ¾¾ Press the joystick up to go to a frame before. ¾¾ Press the joystick down to go back a frame. www.dallmeier.com 27 VSC-1 ¾¾ Rotate the joystick for fast forward to the right. ¾¾ Rotate the joystick for a quick return to the left. Button Control ¾¾ Press the WIDE/R button (forward replay) or the TELE/L button (reverse replay), in order to obtain a permanent replay. ¾¾ Press the FAR button (frame before) or the NEAR button (frame back), to jump into the track a frame before or back. 7.2.3 Search With the numeric pad, the function keys and the joystick can be moved a certain period of time in the track before or back. ¾¾ Enter the increment with the numeric pad. ¾¾ Enter the time period with the function keys. ¾¾ Enter the direction with the joystick.
