VIPEDIA-12 Professional Sound Life-Safety Digital Audio System
The VIPEDIA is an expandable Pro-Sound quality 1U IP Voice Alarm Audio Router which provides up to twelve analogue audio inputs and twelve outputs, together with multiple Ethernet IP ports and ASL Intellevac safety audio networking. The VIPEDIA allows for local routing of any combination of its 12 analogue audio inputs to any combination of the 12 outputs, while up to three VIPEDIA routers can be linked by a high speed digital routing bus1 to provide simultaneous routing from any or all of their analogue inputs to outputs. The built in IP networking enables the VIPEDIA to offer audio routing and control over IP, thus extending the system’s audio matrix across the IP Network. The IP networking can use existing site IP infrastructure or can be constructed as a standalone Cat5 or fibre ring2. Connecting pairs of VIPEDIAs at each PA Node enables full dual redundant synchronised ‘A’ and ‘B’ VA systems to be constructed. All 12 analogue audio inputs use individual RJ45 general purpose audio and microphone connection ports, which provide straight through connections to ASL microphones. The VIPEDIA’s advanced energy management functions include automatically powering down unused functions, such as removing power from paging microphones during out of hours periods. Two of the microphone inputs have hardware bypass capability to provide continued emergency operation even if the VIPEDIA CPU has failed, and these inputs are also compatible with ASL Intellevac safety networks. The full analogue and digital audio signal path is of Pro-Sound quality, enabling the VIPEDIA to meet very high quality audio requirements, and Pro-Sound IP networking is provided by means of an Audinate DanteTM interface module, which can be fitted as an addition to the standard ASL VIPA PMC VoIP protocol. The VIPEDIA’s standard DSP engine provides powerful audio functions, including dynamic input processing and individually adjustable digital output delay and parametric equalisation, while the optional MIX-DSP module adds channel mixing functions. The optional VIPA module adds functions from ASL’s VIPA software suite, including huge DVA storage, and broadcast scheduling. This module also provides more Ethernet ports, and allows spare microphone port RS485 data busses to control and monitor third party equipment, with the VIPEDIA acting as an IP terminal server. The VIPEDIA can control and monitor up to 64 ASL amplifier mainframes and their associated amplifier modules and loudspeaker circuits. Other VIPEDIA interfaces include 12 combined digital and analogue contact inputs, 12 digital outputs, and two fault relay outputs. One of the RJ45 connectors includes all signals required for a standard fire panel interface. The microphone ports also provide Dynamic Ambient Noise Sensor (DANS) connections3, while standard ANS sensors can be connected via BMB01 Remote I/O units, which also provide analogue and digital I/O contact expansion. A RS232 host control port enables interfacing to legacy third party PC/DVA or site control systems. The front panel display and keys provide all EN54-16 mandatory indicators and controls, together with basic setup, and built in debug and fault reporting information. A local matrix of multiple VIPEDIA routers requires the Master VIPEDIA router to be fitted with the internal MIX-DSP module. External IP fibre adaptor switches required for fibre networking. The internal MIX-DSP module needs to be fitted to enable the use of Dynamic Ambient Noise Sensors (DANS).
