Mile Directions/Point of Interest Start Park in the Jamestown Settlement Parking Lot 0.0 MilePost 0 is at the corner of Greensprings Rd and Rt 31 2.1 Paved spur trail to Jamestown HS at 3751 John Tyler Hwy (Rt 5) - Parking 2.4 Cross Greensprings Rd. Bike path runs parallel to Rt 5 (John Tyler Hwy). 6.0 Trail crosses to the other side of Rt 5 (sensors detect bikes for crossing lights) 6.3 Bike Repair Station (with air pump) on right 6.5 Chickahominy Riverfront Park on the right (restrooms, water, parking) 6.6 Bridge (0.6 mi long) over Chickhominy River (with pullouts for photos) Sandy Point Superette (convenience store, 17701 John Tyler Hwy) - visible & easily 12.9 accessible across Rt 5 (open 7-7 M-F, 8-8 Sat, 9-6 Sun) 19.4 Parish Hill Creek bridge 19.6 Haupt's Country Store (7-9 M-Sat, 8-5 Sun) - 11911 John Tyler Hwy (Rt 5) Turn LEFT on 644 to Charles City (cycle on quiet road for 0.5 miles 21.2 until trail begins again) 21.3 Charles City Visitor Center on left (restrooms) - good place to regroup 21.3 Courthouse Grill on the right 21.7 Trail continues at end of 644 (where 644 meets Rt 5) Detour: Follow detour sign to the left and then right to go around a replacement 27.1 bridge being built on Rt 5 29.8 Cross Hwy 106 (traffic light) 34.2 Turkey Island Creek Bridge 38.8 Trail crossed to the other side of Rt 5 4-Mile Creek Trailhead (Parking). Huge Exxon visible across the highway with Dairy 40.3 Queen, Varina Pizza, convenience store. Good place to regroup. 41.2 Trail crosses under I-295 then continues to follow Rt 5 (New Market Rd) 42.7 Turn LEFT at Kinvan Rd (trail tees into the road, so you can't miss it) 42.8 Turn RIGHT in 100 yds or so to continue on bike trail. Trail crosses Strath Rd (traffic light) at Valero Gas (with Subway) and Rite Aid. Note 44.2 that trail is following Rt 5 (New Market Rd) 45.5 Cross Willson Rd (traffic light). Ronnies BBQ easily visible across the street. 46.0 Trail crosses I-895 (Pocahantas Pkwy) 46.4 Cross Laburnum Rd (traffic light) 48.1 Trails crosses to the other side of Rt 5 48.6 7-11 convenience store (1125 New Market Rd) Great Shiplock Park (2803 Dock St) at MP 53 sign - RR and bike repair station. (Trail currently has mileposts at 0 through 40 and then none until 53, but the mileage is 51.7 off for Milepost 53.) Continue on paved trail along Dock Rd. Trail ends at huge floodwall. Go through openings in the floodwall and Bottoms Up Pizza (1700 Dock St, 804-644-4400, great pizza, burgers, sandwiches, etc) is visible just across the street to the right. Use ramp with metal railings to the right to 52.3 patio area. Lock bikes to railing.

Directions to the Jamestown Settlement parking lot: Take I-64 to Exit 242A - Rt 199 toward Williamsburg/Jamestown After 5.43 miles, turn LEFT on Rt 31 toward Jamestown After 3.76 miles, turn LEFT on Greensprings Rd (notice the start of the trail on the corner to the left) After 100 yds, turn RIGHT into the Jamestown Settlement parking lot
