our product range
VOS Vocality Operating System One common software platform, shared across all Vocality’s network routers and multiplexers. A common operating system is used throughout the BASICS and PROFESSIONAL product ranges. Vocality Operating System (VOS) encompasses the real-time operating system, FIPS-ready secure network binaries, multiplexing and routing functionality. VOS combines all the elements needed to deliver real-time, reliable data switching, optimisation and routing around complex, multi-node networks. The latest release is version 7, which introduced a number of key network security features. Products running VOS all utilise a shared, common code base, which has available all the capabilities of the operating system, with each product utilising the relevant area specific to its hardware configuration. RTP Performance Enhancement Proxy A four stage method of optimisation that produces an RTP transport mechanism that is uniquely optimised for bandwidth efficiency and quality of VoIP across Vocality networks. The process starts with a proprietary RTP header compression, followed by forcing the choice of bandwidth efficient voice compression codec. Packet Aggregation is the third stage, followed by a timestamp transmission method that ensures voice packets are not affected by jitter on the link. The overall result is aggressive bandwidth optimisation when operating over restricted bandwidth networks. VoIP VOS provides support for SIP based VoIP traffic. This ensures compatibility with the broadest range of voice switches as well as CISCO Call Manager. In addition, because of Vocality’s heritage in terrestrial gateway and satellite communications, voice traffic can be transparently switched between sites, and between traditional voice techniques such as POTS or Digital Voice (E1/T1) and VoIP – ensuring maximum compatibility with current as well as legacy voice systems. FIPS 140.2 Network Security The High Speed Router built into products such as BASICS IP Router can offer strategic network security capabilities. The cryptographic engine at the heart of VOS has undergone rigorous testing and government certification to assure that the cryptography used is appropriate for the most sensitive applications. FIPS 140-2 Level 1 approval delivers the level of security needed by the most demanding of tactical field operators. Technology Partners Developed in partnership with:

Vocality’s network security platform and FIPS 140-2 level 1 validation for network assurance is sourced from Mocana, a Symantec-backed company that specializes in device security. Mocana’s customers include the US DoD, General Dynamics, Harris and L3 Communications. Defence and aerospace manufacturers including BAE, Boeing, Airbus and EADS rely on Green Hills Software for their embedded, secure network protocols stacks.
BASICS The foundation for building bandwidth efficient voice and data networks BASICS is the essential toolbox, offering a simplified approach to the deployment of networking, voice and IP solutions. Each device provides a number of ports for connection; either to an IP WAN such as a satellite modem or over a local fibre optic connection for local reachback. Designed for applications where size, weight and power (SWAP) are critical; BASICS provides specific applications for every day challenges in system deployment. Each BASICS unit offers a single, simple primary mode of operation, such as voice, four-wire or radio relay, and most can be software enabled with edge network router functionality too. All the BASICS platforms can be delivered in one of the following formats, ensuring both standard product network operators and tactical systems integrators have a form factor that meets their requirements.
Chassis Types
PC104
For the systems integrator community, all BASICS boards can be supplied as standalone PC104 boards. For full heat management, the units are all wrapped in an aluminium heat jacket whilst the industrial grade components used offer wider than 0 to 80degC support. These boards can be used as part of a CISCO Mobile Access Router stack. The PC104 boards can be supplied with either the PC104 bus connectors (which are used only for power delivery and mounting), or without legs for flush installation directly onto metal. The PC104 can also be provided with a Transition Board, which converts the AMP50 connectors on the BASICS PC104 board to the regular RJ45 connectors, as presented on the standalone COTS chassis.

Up to three BASICS units can be cascaded on top of each other, and interconnected, allowing all three units to operate as one, single device with a single management port and aggregate.
The regular BASICS chassis is a handheld device, offering commercial temperature operation (although the board inside supports a wider temperature range). The unit presents 2 IP ports presented as RJ45, with 4 RJ45 ports for the integrated feature ports such as voice, radio, four wire or IP. Additionally, the unit has a power connector for the external PSU and a locking supervisor port. The chassis has mounting points underneath for firm mounting inside flight or pelicase systems.
Toughbox
Later in 2011, Vocality will be launching a tough, field deployable chassis solution supporting 1, 2 or 3 Vocality BASICS boards, for integration directly into a wide range of mobility and tactical environments.
Rackmount
Applications include: Up to three PC104 boards can be mounted inside Vocality’s BASICS Rackmount box, allows users the opportunity to mix and match a selection of boards to create a bespoke combination specifically designed for a required application. Units can be cascaded within the chassis to create one cohesive device or used as three individual BASICS units.

BASICS Optical Fibre Optics Enabled BASICS Chassis
BASICS Optical extends the reach of Vocality connectivity into the fixed, local infrastructure. The unit presents an optical interface for fibre based local connectivity, 1 IP port presented as RJ45, with 4 RJ45 ports for the integrated feature ports, such as voice, four wire or IP. Additionally, the unit has a power connector for the external PSU and a locking supervisor port. The chassis has mounting points underneath for firm mounting inside flight or pelicase systems.
ELITE ELITE Reactor For some markets, Vocality offers special, systems designed for government and military fast responders. In the case of the UK, the TEMPEST approved solution is called ELITE Reactor, and it combines a HAIPE approved encryption device together with a BASICS IP and BASICS Voice unit, all delivered in a hand portable device, not much larger than a laptop.
Introducing PROFESSIONAL Vocality’s flagship multi- function product range, PROFESSIONAL, has its foundations in voice and data multiplexing. As such, all the products combine efficient multiplexing of IP and a variety of tributary services. Principally, the PROFESSIONAL products are designed for team communications; bringing together different types of user demands into a managed wide area network, be it IP, serial or ISDN based. At its core, the PROFESSIONAL products are Vocality Operating System based units, with a varying selection of interfaces depending upon the combination required by the application. In the case of the V150 and V200, users can deploy their own combination of cards, through the installation of option cards, whilst the V25 and V50plus have factory set configurations. So unlike BASICS, whose primary function is a single feature; just voice, just radio relay, just routing, PROFESSIONAL products are a bespoke combination of any or all of these services. Being highly established infrastructure tools within the tactical networks of defence and government users, the strong resilience feature achieved through redundant power supplies and service cards as well as redundant aggregate routing makes PROFESSIONAL products from Vocality the logical platform of choice for the most demanding of applications and users.
Handheld devices V25
The V25 is very small, but very powerful. Inside the handheld chassis lies a powerful multiplexer and router platform delivering voice and data with a minimum of overhead cost, space and bandwidth. The unit incorporates a full bridge/router with a full range of network functionality, essential in today’s IP-rich environments. V50plus
Ideal for systems integration into flyaways, or for mobility applications where the power and capability of the larger PROFESSIONAL products is required, but space and power are a limiting factor. V50plus can deliver up to 16 RJ45 ports via its 2 option module slots , one at each end of the unit, so a single device could deliver 16 voice circuits with or without secure voice support Technical Features • Standard 2-port network router
Hub sites are supported through the V150 and V200 devices, with the mobile or fixed remote sites served by the V25, V50plus and V150, with each bringing a specific form factor and port density for different applications.

V200
V150 is Vocality’s flagship PROFESSIONAL product, offering the optimum combination of both option module flexibility and redundancy services. As a 1RU rack mount device, V150 is equally at home in a fixed infrastructure installation as it is in a flyaway rack case or vehicular system such as a satellite news gathering truck or tactical communications vehicle.

Satellite Simulator 3
Vocality takes care of your network’s efficiency and performance from concept through to deployment. The Satellite Simulator 3 is a unique combination of both an IP-based satellite simulation tool and a serial WAN simulator, housed in a simple desktop chassis. The Simulator 3 can be used to create a network environment which represents all the operational issues that a typical satellite or tactical network will present, satellite delay or latency, occasional increases in bit errors and in the IP world of today, restricted QoS and packet loss. Network attached devices such as routers, multiplexers, data cryptos and codecs can all benefit from testing within a controlled environment before live deployment over satellite.
