Making an External Call
Receiving a Call
All Study bedrooms have a VOIP phone installed. VOIP (Voice over IP) is a new telephone standard that provides increased functionality, quality of service and cost reductions. Some of the new functionality includes.
External calls are charged to pre-paid FlexiFone cards, available from the Porters Lodge. These are available in £5 and £20 denominations.
To receive a call you will need you extension number, this is printed on your phone under the receiver.

Once you have purchased your card, follow these steps to place a call.

Pre-dial 123 to access the phone card service Lift the handset or press the speaker button Dial the 10 digit PIN printed on the reverse of the card once prompted You’re remaining credit will be announced Dial your required phone number including area code. When finished, hang up or dial ## to follow on call.

Internal calls will display the caller ID of the calling party. External will display ‘External Call’. External calls are handled by an auto attendant. When dialling in from off site follow these instructions.

Dial 0870 733 7339 (Auto Attendant) Enter the extension number required Your call will be transferred If the Party required is unavailable, your call will be forwarded to their Voice Mail.
Receiving Voice Mail When you receive a Voice Mail, your message button will flash . To listen to your Voice Mail. Press the Msg button Enter the default password 1111 Press 1 to listen to new messages Press 2 to Save Press 3 to Delete
To the Porters Lodge by dialling 0 In the event of an emergency dial 999
New Mail Box Wizard will run when first used. Calls can be placed hands free by pre-dialling the number, then pressing the speaker button.
Your Voice Mail is also set-up to be emailed to as a wav file attachment.
Calls can be placed off hook by pre-dialling the number then lifting the receiver. Ver 1

Your handset has a local contact list with a capacity of 99 contacts.
Speaker Phone can be used instead of lifting the receiver. To use the Speaker Phone
Call forwarding on your handset has the following options.
Add a Contact

Use the ↑ ↓ keys to navigate and the OK key to select Press FN key Select Menu | Phone Book | Add new contact Type the name of the contact using the number keys representing the character required. For example C = 222. Press the OK button. Enter the contact number. Press the OK button.

Press FN key Select Menu | Phone Book | Search Type the name of the contact using the number keys Use the ↑ ↓ keys to search Select the contact by pressing OK
Do Not Disturb Press the DND Fwd button to forward all calls to Voice mail. Press DND Fwd twice to reject a call and forward to Voice Mail.

Change Volume The ↑ ↓ keys can be used to change volume in the following ways.

Search for a Contact
Pre-dial the required number Press the Speaker button
When the phone is idle, they change the Ringer Volume When you lift the receiver, they change the receiver Volume When you are using Speaker phone, they change the speaker Volume
To access call forwarding Press FN key and the DND Fwd Use the ↑ ↓ keys to navigate and the OK key to select option. Once you have selected your option, enter the number that you wish to forward to and press OK.
Conference Call
Second Line Your handset has 2 lines. To use your second line, place your current call on hold by pressing the Hold Button and press the Call 2 button. You can then place either line on hold and switch to the other.

Transfer calls To transfer a call, press the Trans button while the call is live, enter the number you wish to transfer to, then hang up.

When Busy (Forwards if you are on a call)
Make or answer the first call as you would normally do so. Press the Conf button. (The first call is now on hold, Call 1 is lit and you have a dial tone on the second line) Dial the third person for the conference. (The phone joins all calls into a single conference and both Call 1 and Call 2 are lit)
