Note :
To ensure a long service life, wheel bearings should be carefully sealed, cleaned and properly adjusted. To attain this, note the following points:
Install sealing ring and grease cap as shown.
Only re-install bearings if clean, do not wash bearings.
Carefully adjust wheel bearing play.

Before removing, reset brake shoes through threaded hole of wheel bolts 42-3, Reset brake
Wheel bearing, servicing
Secure outer wheel bearing against falling off when removing brake drum.
Before installing, fill hub with sealing grease G 052 128 A1
Outer wheel bearing
Drive out outer ball race using copper mandrel
Pressing in 42-3, Pressing in outer ball race for outer wheel bearing

Loosen grease cap from seat by tapping lightly on claw.

Note:
Always replace damaged (dented) grease caps.
Damaged (dented) grease caps allow moisture to enter. Therefore, always use the tool shown.
Adjusting wheel bearing play
Note:
Thrust pad must be movable when applying finger pressure on screwdriver without prying.
- Secure with castle nut and new pin.

- To do so, press wedge upward through a hole in brake drum using a screwdriver.

Note :
To ensure a long service life, wheel bearings should be carefully sealed, cleaned and properly adjusted. To attain this, note the following points:
Install sealing ring and grease cap as shown.
Install clean bearings only
Carefully adjust wheel bearing play.

Note :
If it should be necessary to move a vehicle whose drive axle has been removed, then before doing so install an outer joint in place of the drive axle and tighten it to 50 Nm, or else wheel bearing will be damaged.

Removing and installing rotor for wheel speed sensor
- Drive rotor off outer joint using a drift (rotor will be destroyed when doing this). - Carefully install new rotor up to stop using plastic hammer.
