VOX Tone Garage Series Three Tube Stomp Effects & Two Analog Stomp Effects Tone Garage captures the pure essence of analog in these compact effect units by pairing carefully selected components with a unique design philosophy. Three of the five pedals are genuine tube stomp effects that can deliver all flavors of drive to your tone. The V8 DISTORTION, STRAIGHT 6 DRIVE and FLAT 4 BOOST all take advantage of VOX’s newly developed Hi-Volt technology and provide not only the warm tone expected from a tube but also the all important feel and dynamics. The two analog stomp effects in the series are the TRIKE FUZZ octave pedal and DOUBLE DECA analog delay. Both offer a unique tonal signature from Tone Garage’s all analog circuitry. Main Features All-discrete circuitry - the result of a relentless design philosophy True bypass design provides tonal confidence even when the effect is off Tough die-cast body that stands up to the rigors of the road Newly developed Hi-Volt technology on the tube stomp models allows the tube to operate at 200V The philosophy of the Tone Garage series is to perfectly convey every performance nuance with inimitable tonal character without compromising the sound of the guitar. These pedals, which feature carefully selected analog parts such as vacuum tubes and BBD chips, use rigorously refined discrete circuits. VOX’s unique new Hi-Volt technology allows the internal tube to operate at 200 volts, even when using battery power. Relentlessly honed all-discrete circuitry The internal structure of the Tone Garage series contains absolutely no integrated circuits such as op-amp ICs; it consists only of individual parts such as transistors, resistors, capacitors, and coils. In other words, this series uses unmistakably all-discrete circuitry. Guided by a relentlessly honed design philosophy, only carefully selected parts are used. These pedals provide an excellent response to the subtle picking nuances of the discerning guitarist. True bypass design for confidence even when the effect is off In addition to superb sound quality, great effect designs must also take into account what’s happening when bypassed. The Tone Garage series uses a true bypass design, ensuring that the sound of your guitar will not be compromised or colored when the effect is bypassed. Since the on/off switch uses a high-performance relay designed for small signals, the true tone of the guitar itself will be output without any deterioration of the sound. Preliminary Information – Specifications and features subject to change Sturdy aluminum die-cast body for outstanding durability Each pedal in the Tone Garage series features a tough aluminum die-cast body for outstanding durability. It will stand up to hard knocks during your stage performances. Simply seeing the killer graphics is enough to rev your motor and take your performance up a notch. The power supply, vacuum tube, and other internal circuitry are partially visible, projecting VOX's traditional design sensibility via appearance as well as sound. ================================================================= Tube Stomp Effect Models V8 DISTORTION, STRAIGHT 6 DRIVE & FLAT 4 BOOST Features All-discrete circuitry - the result of a relentless design philosophy True bypass design provides tonal confidence even when the effect is off Tough die-cast body that stands up to the rigors of the road Newly developed Hi-Volt technology allows the tube to operate at 200V, even on battery power Gain control lets you adjust the tonal character Heater current’s slow start circuit ensures vacuum tube longevity Controllable high-gain distortion that retains that retain the natural essence of your guitar (V8 DISTORTION) Highly usable “Mid Shift” switch adds extra presences tonal definition (V8 DISTORTION) Traditional British overdrive (STRAIGHT 6 DRIVE) Bright Switch for added definition (STRAIGHT 6 DRIVE) Full range booster that delivers true vacuum tube sound (FLAT 4 BOOST) An independent mid-boost switch lets you switch the response of the mid-range (FLAT 4 BOOST) V8 DISTORTION - High-gain distortion with awe-inspiring tone As befits the name "V-type 8-cylinder," this is a high-gain distortion unit that boasts an awe-inspiring tone. In addition to distortion sounds that are ideal for heavy riffs or soloing, you can also obtain cutting high-gain lead sounds. It provides a mid-shift switch that lets you change the band where the mid-range peaks. Turning this off gives you a broad range with an emphasized attack. Turning it on will shift the band to be more suitable for lead playing. STRAIGHT 6 DRIVE - The traditional VOX British overdrive This overdrive overflows with the wide dynamic range of VOX’s signature British-flavored distortion. Turning the bright switch on will give you a sparkling British sound with defined highs, even from a guitar equipped with humbucking pickups. This is an all-around overdrive that's a great choice for a wide range of styles. FLAT 4 BOOST - A versatile full-range booster This vacuum tube booster can be used for a mid-boost, treble-boost, and overdrive, in addition to a full-range boost. Its Baxandall tone circuit allows adjustment from the flat position to the desired boost or cut range. Raising the gain will gradually apply a low-cut, giving you an overdrive sound that's strongly reminiscent of sought-after vintage tones. An independent mid-boost switch lets you switch the response of the mid-range, which is ideal for playing lead. This is a great unit for blues guitarists who wish to highlight their picking nuances. Newly-developed Hi-Volt technology that overturns expectations for compact effect units Hi-Volt technology enables the vacuum tube to operate at 200V while still running on a battery. This enables a true tube-driven sound that overturns your expectations for a compact effect unit. What is Hi-Volt? VOX has revealed a new vacuum tube circuit technology called Hi-Volt. It delivers high voltage (200V) to a 12AX7 vacuum tube by using 6x AA batteries or the DC9V power supply. The discrete circuit works at 20V, which is still considered high voltage operation compared to other general effects products. The result is a natural and dynamic tone which is similar to that of a vacuum tube amplifier. Even though vacuum tubes are considered big by modern component size standards, our engineers were able to keep these pedals small, so you don’t have to worry about them taking up too much space on your pedal board. Preliminary Information – Specifications and features subject to change Gain control that lets you vary the character of your sound The transistor amplification circuit has also received a good deal of consideration. We've designed the gain control so that adjusting its position does not simply change the amplitude, but will also change the tonal character in a subtle way. From zero to max, it yields an array of highly usable and natural distortion & overdrive tones. Carefully designed power supply circuit that extends vacuum tube lifespan Since high current flows through a vacuum tube when the power is turned on, we have provided a heater current slow start circuit that extends the lifespan of the vacuum tube and also avoids malfunctions for the AC adapter. ================================================================= Analog Stomp Effect Models TRIKE FUZZ & DOUBLE DECA DELAY TRIKE FUZZ Features All-discrete circuitry - the result of a relentless design philosophy True bypass design provides tonal confidence even when the effect is off Tough die-cast body that stands up to the rigors of the road A versatile octave fuzz that gives you up to three octaves at once Three different octave modes Uses a special diode with a response similar to a germanium diode An octave fuzz with three types of octave settings (Trike Fuzz) This is an octave fuzz overflowing with vintage character, utilizing carefully selected special diodes that approximate the response of rare germanium diodes. It covers not only a range of one octave up, but also two octaves down. You can choose three types of octave settings: up 1 octave, down 1 or 2 octaves, or mix all upward and downward octaves to obtain thick vintage fuzz sounds. In addition, there's a tone control for +1 octave and a volume control for -2 octaves. Since the Trike Fuzz operates the upward and downward octave circuits in parallel/series and combines them at the end, you can create a diverse range of sounds that cannot be obtained with existing octave fuzz units. DOUBLE DECA DELAY Features All-discrete circuitry - the result of a relentless design philosophy True bypass design provides tonal confidence even when the effect is off Tough die-cast body that stands up to the rigors of the road A rich variety of analog delay sounds powered by three BBD (Bucket Brigade Device) chips BBD chips utilizing the famous 3205 chip Independent modulation knob also adds a chorus effect A multi-function analog delay effect powered by BBD chips (Double Deca Delay) In order to get that classic analog delay sound, we selected the famous 3205 BBD chip. There are three delay modes: “short”, “both” (short/long), and “long”. The “short” mode uses one BBD chip, providing a delay time of up to 300 ms with a clear delay sound and minimal decline in audio quality. The “long” mode uses all three of the BBD chips, allowing you to specify a delay time up to 900 ms for warm-sounding delay trails. The “both” mode mixes the short and long delays, giving an ambient tonal character. It's a multi-purpose design that lets you use either one or all three of the BBD chips. In addition, an independent modulation knob lets you adjust the chorus effect. For example in “both” mode, applying modulation will give you an amazing sound that's like a trinity of delay, reverb, and chorus.
