The message-based receiver is a single C-size module and functions as a servant to another device which acts as its commander. The receiver can detect a wide variety of signals. These include: amplitude modulation (AM), upper sideband (USB), lower sideband (LSB), continuous wave (CW), and frequency modulation (FM). Frequency shift-keyed (FSK) signals can be demodulated as a single sideband suppressed carrier or as true FM signals using an external demodulator or the DC coupled video outputs. The selected detector output is available as an audio signal on a 600 ohm balanced line. It is also available as a DC coupled video signal on a single ended line. The receiver uses an external (or optional internal) reference to generate the 10 MHz synthesizer reference frequency. A headphone jack is provided on the front panel to monitor the audio output. Each local oscillator (LO) signal is jumpered through front panel connectors. This allows two or more receivers to use common LO signals to tune coherently to the same frequency. When used with separate antennas and multichannel phase measuring equipment, the direction of a transmitted signal can be determined. The 32-bit serial data is converted into four 8-bit parallel bytes. When the receiver has data for the C40 interface unit, it invokes the strobe line. When the C40 unit is ready to receive the data, it invokes the ready line. This cycle continues until all of the data is transferred. NOTE: Applicable to bandwidths less than 200 kHz VXI-3570A VHF/UHF DSP RECEIVER SPECIFICATION The VXI-3570A 20 - 3000 MHz receiver is a triple-conversion superheterodyne design in which the final IF filtering and demodulation are accomplished with digital signal processing (DSP) for superior accuracy and flexibility. The first IF is at 1621.4 MHz for the tuning range 20 - 1200 MHz, and 421.4 MHz for the tuning range 1201 - 3000 MHz. The second IF is 21.4 MHz and the third is at 1.4 MHz. At the third IF, the signal is converted to digital form at a sample rate of 2 Ms/s. Digital signal processor chips then provide fine tuning, IF filtering to the selected bandwidth, and AM, FM or product detection according to the operating mode. Eighteen bandwidths are offered from 1 kHz to 240 kHz with video output up to 120 kHz. The demodulated signals are converted back to analog form for output to headphones or balanced lines.
