VX™ Audio/Video Matrix Switches
The VX System is designed for the routing and the broadcasting of audio, video, and RS232 streams via low cost UTP Cat5 cables. The heart of the system is the multimedia matrix switch VX-1616 or VX-3216. The VX multimedia matrices can connect in a mouse click any one of their 16 or 32 inputs to anyone of their 16 outputs. The only differences between the two models are the number of input ports and the height of the case.

Matrix Input and Output Ports: Each RJ45 input or output port can receive or transmit two CD-quality audio channels (stereo), one high-definition video channel (2048 x 1536), and one bidirectional RS232 data channel. The RJ45 connectors allow for higher density. They are usually connected to transmitters or receivers through Cat5 cables. The Transmitters are designed to work with the VX matrix switches. They encode and adapt the audio, video, and RS232 streams coming from a PC or another source, to enable them traveling in a single Cat5 cable. Any source providing a VGA or DVI video connector and an analog audio port can be connected to the matrix via a transmitter. The maximum connection length is 50 m. The transmitters have VGA and audio pass through ports mirroring the input ports. The Receivers can connect two screens. Since 5 receivers can be daisy-chained, a grape of 10 monitors can display the multimedia stream coming from a single output port of the matrix. It is the worth noticing that any input of the matrix can be internally connected to multiple outputs or even to all outputs. Thus, a VX matrix switch can broadcast a single audio/video stream towards 160 monitors. The maximum connection length of a receiver is 200 m through cat5 cables. All receiver settings are sent by the VX switches across the Cat5 cables. IR Remote: The VX matrices can be controlled using an IR remote for basic operations like switching of cross points and setup of audio and video. Using the remote control is sufficient for simple applications such as conference rooms. Management via Telnet and RS232: Programs developed by customers for specific purposes can also send commands and receive information through the management RS232 port or through a Telnet session.

Full Management Through the Network: For a more complete administration, the VX matrices must be networked via their Ethernet 10/100 interface. They are manageable with the GUI application DSNet V2 Manager. The network connection is secured by SSL so that users can access the VX matrix both locally and over the network through the Internet. VX™ Audio/Video Matrix Switches DSNet Manager V2 is a Java GUI application coming with the VX matrices. It can run on all platforms supporting a Java virtual machine, such as Windows, Linux, MAC OS X. It allows anyone with access rights to monitor and set up all features concerning the matrices, transmitters and receivers. DSNET Manager V2 provides graphical and interactive diagrams showing the state of cross points and connected transmitters and receivers. In a few mouse clicks you can turn a cross point, change the audio and video settings of any monitor, enable and disable monitors individually, name network equipments, consult the log, create groups, upgrade the firmware of the matrix switches, transmitters and receivers.

Receiver Connections The receivers can connect two monitors. Thanks to their chaining port, up to 5 receivers can be wired in series with Cat5 cables allowing a grape of 10 monitors to display the multimedia stream provided by a single output port of the matrix switch.
Pass through Ports of Transmitters The transmitters have VGA and audio output ports mirroring the VGA and audio input ports. The monitor and the speakers that were connected to the PC can now be connected to the transmitter, so that you can still use the PC just as before.
