This item shall govern the purchase and installation of serial to fiber converter modules, equivalent to the Wavetronix Click!™ 323, 324 and 325, that are used to convert full-duplex RS-422 communications to fiber. This item shall govern three such modules: a a serial to multimode fiber endpoint module (MEM) equivalent to the Click! 323; a serial to multimode fiber repeater module (MRM) equivalent to the Click! 324; and a serial to single-mode fiber endpoint module (SEM) equivalent to the Click! 325. 2.0 Product Description. The MEM, MRM and SEM shall be converter modules for use with radar vehicle sensing devices (RVSD) equivalent to the Wavetronix SmartSensor™. The SFCM shall be capable of converting full-duplex RS-422 communication to multimode (MEM and MRM) and single-mode (SEM) fiber optic communication protocol and vice versa. Any data coming to or from the fiber port shall simultaneously be sent to the RS-422 connections. 3.0 Physical. The MEM, MRM and SEM shall not exceed 4.1 in. x 3.9 in. x 1.4 in. (10.4 cm x 9.9 cm x 3.6 cm) in their physical dimensions. The modules shall not exceed 0.5 lb. (0.2 kg) in weight. The modules shall operate continuously over a temperature range of -4°F to 140°F (-20°C to 60°C). The modules shall operate in up to 95% RH. 4.0 Mounting. The MEM, MRM and SEM shall mount to a DIN rail for quick installation and replacement. 5.0 Power. The MEM, MRM and SEM shall operate using less than 3 W of average power at 24 VDC. 6.0 Connections. The MEM, MRM and SEM shall include the following connections for power and communication: 6.1 Power. The modules shall have two screw terminals for wiring in power. 6.2 Alarm contacts. The modules two screw terminals as a floating switch contact for error diagnostics. 6.3 RS-422. The top of each module shall include six screw terminals for wiring in RS-422 communication. 6.4 Fiber Optics. The MEM shall feature two ST fiber optic connectors. The MRM shall feature four ST fiber optic connectors. The SEM shall feature two SC duplex fiber optic connectors. For each set of two ports, one shall be used for transmitting data and the other for receiving data. 7.0 Communication. The MEM, MRM and SEM shall have the following communication capabilities: 7.1 RS-422 Communication. The modules shall allow the user to communicate with an RVSD or any other device with an RS-422 connection. 7.2 Serial to Fiber Protocol Conversion. The MEM and MRM shall convert multimode fiber optic protocol to full-duplex RS-422 communication and vice versa. The modules shall have a fiber optic wavelength of 850 nm and a range of up to 3 miles (4.8 km). The SEM shall convert single-mode fiber optic communication to full-duplex RS-422 communication and vice versa. The module shall have a fiber optic wavelength of 1300 nm and a range of up to 28 miles (45 km). 8.0 Configuration Features. The MEM, MRM and SEM shall have the following configuration features: 8.1 LEDs. The front of each module shall include a red LED for power and green and yellow LEDs, which shall illuminate when corresponding data is successfully transmitted or received. The front of each module shall also include four LEDs for each set of fiber optic ports. The top LED lights up green when the receiving signal power is very good. The second LED lights up green when the receiving signal power is good. The third LED lights up yellow when the receiving signal power is critical and the system reserve is reached. The bottom LED lights up red when the receiving signal power is insufficient or if there is a broken fiber. 8.2 DIP Switch.
