Job Position Location: Washington Region - Tukwila, WA Job title: Commercial Broadband Technician Reports To: Installation Supervisor Type of Position: Full-time, non-exempt Salary: Hourly, DOE Posting Period: Until Filled Purpose of Position: Provide outstanding customer service contributing to Wave’s success in making customers happy. Under supervision, perform basic installations, disconnects, service changes and service calls for commercial business customers. Perform basic troubleshooting from tap to all customers’ electronic devices. Performs work involving installation, test, configuration, and maintenance of communications systems in Customer Premise Locations, Point of Presence (POP) and outside enclosure cabinet environments. Systems involve SONET and ETHERNET network elements including transmission, transport and distribution systems to provide advance services and other high capacity services for commercial business customers. Responsibilities include:  Perform installation of all necessary wiring (interior and exterior), changes of service or disconnects for all video, internet and digital voice services for commercial business customers; often in a busy commercial environment where services are being transferred from a competing provider insuring a seamless, clean and organized transition being paramount  Perform service calls to resolve basic to complex service issues from the tap to the customer premise demark location  Isolate and cross-connect specific telephone lines using schematics, color coding and test equipment such as toner, fault finder and test sets  Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, and NEC, etc ; as well as following procedures as outlined in the Installation, Technical, Operations, and Safety Manuals, and Employee Handbook)  Assure proper signal levels for all services and clean the premises of all debris and materials after the installation is complete  Monitor and record system, drop, and in house leakage; maintain records including daily logs, gas sheets, etc. as required; properly record all required information on work orders, surveys, referrals, etc  Promote cable, Internet, and other Company services; educate customer on proper use of the service, including how to add additional services and access help online, proper equipment usage, and other services that are available; represent Company as needed to collect payments and secure appropriate customer signatures  Project a professional business manner and operate with a high degree of integrity  Clean, maintain, stock, and secure assigned vehicle and equipment  Perform other duties as requested by supervisor  Installs, configures, provisions, checks, maintains, and adjusts a wide variety of -48V DC Power, SONET and ETHERNET transport and CPE equipment to provide voice, METRO ETHERNET, and Optical Internet services, advance services, as well as alternate access through transmission, transport, and distribution equipment.  Verifies, validates, and authenticates the operational performance of DC Power, SONET, ETHERNET and Telephony transport and CPE equipment for compliance to design specifications and quality of service targets by utilizing appropriate test equipment and craft analysis management platforms.  3-Responds to alarms or outage notification; analyzes and troubleshoots problems for quick resolution in conjunction with Network Operations Center and/or local SOC and on-call engineering staff; restores service.  Acts as a primary liaison with other departments, vendors, customers, and interconnection activities to correct error conditions.  Ensures transmission and distribution equipment meets Wave, franchise, and FCC standards.  Implements work orders and coordinates installation, test, and acceptance with field systems technicians to ensure customer acceptance of circuits and services.  Applies engineering standards, for equipment installation, cable routing, termination, testing and labeling, including equipment grounding and labeling.  Keep records of network devices installed at the customer premise, Co-lo locations, Cabinets, Hub sites and Headends. Qualifications:  Minimum two years of experience in a technical role such as installation, service or application engineer  Experience working with telephone circuits  Experience with common telephone and data network hardware including switches, routers, hubs and termination devices  Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies  Ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder, (approx. 28 ft high and 75 pounds)  Ability to climb poles using gaffs and climbing belt as needed  Ability to drive Company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner  Ability to perform job from high places (i.e. poles and roofs)  Ability to prioritize and organize effectively  High School Diploma or equivalent  NCTI or SCTE certification preferred  Valid driver's license  Satisfactory driving record  Work indoors in poorly ventilated areas such as attics during extreme heat  Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, cleaning solutions  Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night  Work performed near power lines and electricity  Work and travel in inclement weather Diverse Workforce / EEO: WaveDivision Holdings (WDH) recognizes and strongly supports the benefits of a diverse workforce, and strives to provide a culture that recognizes the unique contributions of each of our employees.
