SAFE WORK PROCEDURE
DO NOT use this machine unless a teacher has instructed you on its safe use and operation and has given permission. Pre-Use Instructions: 1. All students should be shown how to operate the unit correctly prior to first use. 2. Inspect the electrical components prior to use ensuring that the electrical cord is in good condition, the ground plug is in place and that the electrical switches are working properly. 3. Ensure that the power cord is located away from other hot components and do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter. 4. Install the waffle iron on a level surface. 5. Do not tough hot surfaces. Use handles and knobs. 6. Always attach the plug to the appliance first, then plug the cord into the wall outlet. 7. Adjust the browning control level from light to deep golden brown. (#3 for golden brown waffles).
Operating Procedure: 1. Close the lid of the waffle iron and plug into a standard wall outlet. Allow the waffle iron to preheat. The green indicator light will come on when the appliance is ready to use. 2. Open the lid and pour the required amount of batter (approx. ½ cup) onto the iron. Pour the batter into the centre of the lower waffle iron. Spread the batter around the iron with a plastic spatula. 3. Close the lid. The green light will go off and the red light will illuminate. 4. When the waffles are ready the green light will come on. Open the lid and remove the waffle by gently loosening the edges with a heat proof plastic spatula and transfer the waffle to a plate. Do not touch the waffle iron while removing the waffle as the metal is very hot.

Clean Up: 1. When finished disconnect the plug from the wall outlet, open the lid and allow the appliance to cool down. 2. Clean the waffle iron by brushing the crumbs from the grooves and absorb any excess cooking oil by wiping with a dry cloth or paper towel. Irons can be cleaned further by wiping with a damp cloth to prevent staining and sticking from batter or oil build up. 3. Wipe the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth. If and emergency situation occurs while conducting this task or there is an equipment malfunction, shut the equipment off immediately and unplug it. REPORT ANY HAZARDOUS SITUATION TO YOUR INSTRUCTIO / SUPERVISOR IMMEDIATELY
