caroma marc newson – wall basin mixer water efficient tapware (nominal flow rate = 5 L/min) PLUMBERS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS IS1213A(07/12) Important Information • Brazed connections should NOT be made directly onto the mixer, as excessive heat will cause permanent damage. • All pipework must be thoroughly flushed prior to installation. • Basin Outlet is fitted with a 5 L/min flow regulated aerator insert. This low flow rate may not be suitable for connection to some Instantaneous Gas Water Heaters, some Tempering Valves, some Solar Water Heaters & some Thermostatic Mixing Valves. Check with the manufacturers of these products. Special Requirements • Front face of mounting plate (1) must be flush with back face of wall lining to ensure that Mixer is installed square to wall surface & that wall lining is supported when spigots (8) are tightened. IMPORTANT Pressure & Temperature Requirements • Hot and cold water inlet pressures should be equal. • S tatic inlet pressure range: 150 - 1000kPa New Regulation:- 500kPa maximum static pressure at any outlet within a building. (Ref. AS/NZS 3500.1-2003, Clause 3.3.4) • Maximum hot water temperature: 80°C. Wall Requirements • Cavity Depth: 70mm minimum (behind wall lining) • Penetration hole (in wall lining): Ø41 - 45mm Installation Requirements • T he installing plumber is responsible for waterproofing all penetrations for Taps in Shower areas at installation by a proprietary flange system or a sealant. (Ref AS3740-2010, Clause 3.10) PAGE 2 OF 12 200mm 1 l r In ate W ld 2 Co G1/ 6 No gg in ts up s pli ed ) et 2 (no l r In t Ho te Wa 2 G1/ 3 et 4 5 5m m 1 Fit mixer sub-assembly (1) onto suitably prepared noggins (not supplied) and secure using the four chipboard screws (2) (supplied) through the matching holes of the mounting plate (1) as shown. Important: When installed into the wall cavity, the front face of the mounting plate (1) must contact the back face of the wall lining. Timber noggins must be notched to an accurate depth of 5.0mm to ensure that the front face of the mounting plate is flush with the front face of the noggins and wall framing. When facing the mixer, the connections should be as follows: • Hot water inlet connection ‘H’ to the left. • Cold water inlet connection ‘C’ to the right. • Check all connections for leaks. Important: • The notched recess in the noggins must be 5.0mm deep to accomodate the mounting plate (1) and ensure the wall covering is fully supported. • Mixer sub-assembly (1) must be installed square to the wall/tile face. • The tiling guide (4) can be removed by unscrewing screw (5) if access to the pressure test plugs (3) is required to bleed air from the system. Pressure test plugs can be removed using a 6mm allen key (supplied). PAGE 3 OF 12 65 Ø41-45mm Wall Thickness Limits 4 1 14 - 24mm wall/tile face 2 Regardless of the type of wall covering chosen, be it fibre cement/tile, stone, glass, or other, the combined total thickness of all wall coverings, measured from the face of the mounting plate (1) to the wall/tile face, must be within the range of 14 - 24mm as shown. Important: • The mixer will not function if the total thickness of the wall covering is outside the range of 14 - 24mm. To indicate correct wall thickness, the finished wall surface must lie between the wall thickness limits on the tiling guide (4). • The diameter of the hole penetration through the wall covering must be within the range of Ø41 - 45mm and the hole must be concentric to the tiling guide (4). PAGE 4 OF 12 6 7 ' O' Rings 8 5 3 When the wall covering has been completed, the installation of the mixer can continue. Start by unscrewing screw (5), remove & discard the tiling guide (4). Ensure that water supplies are isolated, then remove pressure test plugs (3) (see step 1) and discard. Appy suitable lubricant to ‘O’Rings on spigots (8) before inserting the threaded end of each spigot (8) through the mating holes in the base plate (7), taking care not to damage the ‘O’Rings (ensure that the circular recess in the base plate faces the wall). Apply a suitable sealant to the back face of the base plate (7), leaving an unsealed section at the bottom for drainage. Insert the threaded end of each spigot (8) into its mating hole in the mixer body (6) as shown, screw in using a 6mm allen key and tighten until the base plate is bottomed against the wall surface & the sealant is compressed to form a watertight joint. Wipe clean any excess sealant from the wall/ tile face and the chrome surface of the base plate (7). Screw in screw (5) using a 2.5mm allen key & tighten. PAGE 5 OF 12 7 ' O' Rings 8 Shoulder 14 13 33 12 9 10 11 4 Ensure four grub screws (9) are partially unscrewed from body (14). Apply suitable lubricant to ‘O’Rings on spigots (8) then carefully slide body (14) over the two spigots (8) as shown, taking care not to damage the ‘O’Rings. Push the body (14) fully onto the spigots until it bottoms against the base plate (7) then tighten grub screws (9) using the 2.5mm allen key provided. Fit washer (10) onto hex bolt (11) then assemble bolt through hole in body (14) into base plate (7) and tighten using a 7mm A/F spanner. Fit ‘O’ring (33) into groove in shoulder of body (14). Slide thrust washer (12) onto body (14) until it bottoms against shoulder on body (14), as shown. Apply a suitable lubrication grease to the thrust washer (12) and plastic sleeve (13). PAGE 6 OF 12 REVERSE VIEW 14 17 13 15 16 12 5 Check that the handle adaptor (17) is positioned inside body (14) as shown in Reverse View. Insert the sliding cover (16) into the slot in outer cover (15) as shown. While holding the outer cover (15) with the slot at the bottom, carefully slide it over the plastic sleeve (13) and then onto the body (14) until it bottoms on the thrust washer (12).
