Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1
General Introduction DVD-Backup, developed by EZ DUPE Inc., is the first DVD standalone duplicator and does not required to be connected to a computer to perform. It provides flawless duplicating for any format of DVD disc with excellent accuracy. DVD-Backup reads all kinds of DVD discs. With its professional mechanism design and multi-function LCD panel, DVD Backup is easy for any end-user to operate. It is perfect, costeffective DVD-R/RW duplicator for audio, data, multimedia and video applications. Making a backup DVD? DVD backup is the right choice.

When you power on the DVD-Backup, you will see seven major functions show on LCD sequentially: 1.Copy Disc. 2. Test Copy Disc 3. Copy track. 4. Close Disc. 5. Quick Erase Disk. 6. Full Erase Disc. 7. System. Please perform each function by press ← → to select function and pressing OK CANCEL button to confirm or cancel selection. 5
ALL MAIN FUNCTIONS ARE DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
2.1 Copy Disc

Put master DVD to DVD-ROM, and blank DVD to DVD-R Drive.

Select 1. Copy Disc, and press ok button DVD-Backup V5.26 1. Copy Disc

→ Select 1. Copy Disc function.
Move cursor to select writing speed and press ok Write Speed = 4X 2X 1X
→ Select the writing speed.
Start copying: The duplicator will automatically set drive speed and analyze the format of the master disc. The machine will process following steps to finish disc copy. You may refer to the message shown on the LCD for duplicating status. Then just wait for the DVD to finish. Analysis Disc… 27. 05

EZ DUPE DVD-Backup will synchronize the disc you create and write section 4. Finish copying. The DVD-RW tray will automatically eject when the copy process is completed. Waiting… Blank Disc

5. You can put in another blank disc and press ok to continue copying another disc or press cancel button to cancel the operation.
NOTE If you are not satisfied with the quality of duplicated recording disc, you should use another type of disc that matches with the recorder or select lower writing speed to improve the quality of recorded disc.

2.2
Test Copy Disc This (Test Copy Disc) is used to check the feasibility of writing data to a blank disc; this function is almost the same as (Copy Disc.) However, data will not be written to a blank disc. [You can execute this function when source disc has serious scratches.] Please follow the steps similar to 2.1 Copy Disc:

Put in master disc in DVD-ROM, and Blank disc in DVD-RW

Move cursor to 2.

DVD-Backup will start to simulate the copying process and check the feasibility of data writing
Test 4X (15:00) Audio 4X 4.
Test Copy Disc and press OK

2.3 Quick Erase Disc This function is used for DVD-RW Re-writable discs only. It takes less time than Full Erase Disc 1.

2.4 Full Erase Disc Completely remove all data from a DVD-RW disc. The more data on a DVD-RW, the longer time it takes to erase the disc. Select 6. Full Erase Disc from the main menu and press OK. The process is the same as chapter 2.3 Quick Erase Disc function.

2.5 System This function provides information about DVD-ROM drive, DVD-RW drive and DVD Backup. Use ← → button to select functions.
1. DVD-ROM DRIVE. Select 7. System, press OK and select 7.1 Shows DVD-ROM. Function [7.1] shows the model name and version of DVD-ROM drive. DVD-Backup V5.24 7. System

Function [7.3] helps you to update BIOS:
(If you insert a wrong disc, the LCD shows as below error message:) ∗Wrong Disk ∗ [08] Put in BIOS Disc

System Information (If you insert an old BIOS disc, the LCD shows as below warning message:) *** No New BIOS
BIOS version is not newer than the system.
• If EZ DUPE DVD-Backup detects the latest BIOS version in the BIOS disc, it will automatically update the old Bios to a new one.
Note The DVD-Backup has the ability to receive firmware updates via DVDRom. Updating the system will not be necessary under normal use. Do not proceed with this action unless you have received a notice from EZ DUPE that a firmware update is needed.
Warning When updating BIOS, DO NOT press power button, otherwise EZ DUPE DVD Backup will not boot up again. The BIOS updating processes are as follows: UPDATE bios Identify

Chapter 3 Product Questions For Familiar Problem Causing:
If you don’t put an blank disc in the DVD-RW drive, and the LCD shows the below error message: Error…… No Blank Disc
Target is not blank disc
SOLUTION: 1. If you choose a DVD-R disc to backup your disc, you will need to change a blank DVD-R disc. 2. If it is a DVD-RW disc, you probably need to execute [Quick Erase Disc] to remove data on the DVD-RW disc. 3. When you put a DVD-R disc in the DVD-RW drive and execute [Quick Erase Disc] function. However, the LCD shows the below error message. Error… No Erasable Disc
Target is not DVD-RW disc
Solution: DVD-R disc are not erasable. disc.
Please change it to DVD-RW

4. When you execute [update BIOS] function, it shows the below error message. * Wrong Disc * [08]
Inserted disc is not an updated BIOS disc.
Put BIOS Disc
SOLUTION: Insert a BIOS disc in the DVD-ROM drive.

A full DVD-R disc can store up to 4.7GB of data.

No matter which button you press in the copying process, it will not affect the result of the copying process unless you turn down the power.
