In full duplex mode, the maximum data rate is 8 Gigabits per second. The WDM4 can transmit up to 35 kilometers pointto-point. There is an Optical Repeater available that will extend the end-to-end transmission distance up to hundreds of kilometers (in 50 km increments). The NBase WDM4's SX ports are interoperable with any server, router, or switch that operates in full duplex Gigabit Ethernet using multimode fiber with 850nm outputs. It allows interswitch connections to scale to a much higher bandwidth. The multimode inputs can be from any IEEE 802.3z compatible product. These devices can be up to 50 meters away from the WDM4. By multiplexing different optical wavelengths on the same fiber, NBase's new WDM4 can transmit 8Gbps, full duplex, over a single fiber pair to unprecedented distances of up to 35 kilometers point-to-point. ▼ Increase the Efficiency of Fiber Transmission to 4 Gigabits ▼ Avoid New Fiber Investment ▼ Fail-Safe Operation Local monitoring of the system activities such as loss of signal, out of temperature range, end of laser life, and receiver signal detection is available. The user can remotely access system status, system configuration, and perform remote management such as remote laser shut-off using in-band and outof-band SNMP management. RELATED PRODUCTS G IGAFRAME SWITCH MODULE -EM3012WDM4 The WDM4 is also available as a module for the GigaFrame routing switch GFS3012. In this configuration four Gigabit Ethernet streams are taken directly from the switching fabric and multiplexed onto the fiber for distances up to 50 kilometers. The EM3012WDM4 module uses one slot in the GFS3012. OPTICAL REPEATER - WDM-OR4 If distances greater than 50 kilometers are required NBase provides an Optical Repeater that can be used with the WDM4. This device retimes and regenerates the signal for another 50 kilometer link distance. Use of the Optical Repeater can extend the end-to-end transmission distance to hundreds of kilometers. If one fiber strand is cut, then all data will be automatically transmitted on the remaining fiber strand at half the data rate. ▼ Congested Fiber Routes The WDM4 provides protocol independent port-toport transmission of multiple signals over one fiber.
