Weather Routing Inc. (WRI, Ltd.) SeaWeather Online Weather Source "Oceans of Experience" www.SeaWeather.net Prepared on Jul 09 09:52z Forecast for Vineyard Cup By BW Synopsis: Good morning. A front is now located from e'rn North Carolina NE'ward to the Gulf of Maine. This will remain quasi stationary today but remains well east of Martha's Vineyard. A ridge of HIGH PRESSURE extends from Kentucky NE'ward to W'rn Massachusetts. This will build E'ward to the south of s'rn New England today. A front will drift SE'ward into n'rn New England later today. Current Conditions: The radar is clear and satellite imagery shows a narrow band of HIGH altitude cirrus clouds from Martha's vineyard and Cape Cod SW'ward that is drifting E-NE'ward. Otherwise, skies across the region are mostly clear. The vineyard airport was reporting wind WNW 05kts and a temperature of 67 degrees. The Nantucket Sound Buoy was reporting 1-2ft seas from the WNW. Severe Weather Potential/Advisories: No watches, warnings or advisories are in effect at this time. No severe weather is expected today. Please monitor NOAA All Hazards Radio on your VHF for the latest official warnings and advisories from The National Weather Service. Hedge Forecast: Forecaster confidence is above normal for today. The pattern is a relatively straightforward one where ridging is the dominant weather feature. There will be noticeable differences in mostly wind speeds (not as much wind directions) across the forecasting grid, with the developing SW wind at the higher end of the forecast ranges in Vineyard Sound and at the lower end of the ranges on the N'rn and E'rn side of the Vineyard. Conclusions: Ridging in place across New England is now producing W-NW winds, however as the ridge moves offshore this morning expect winds to steadily back to a SW direction. This will be aided by the typical summer diurnal effects as the mainland of S'rn New England heats, creating a mesoscale thermal trough that will tend to both speed up this veering as well as the increase in winds. To a lesser extent, a front approaching N'rn New England will also tend to enhance the SW flow by this afternoon. Click Image for Larger View. Forecast Charts to 8 days provided by REQUEST.
