WESTMOUNT PAC Minutes for October 3rd, 2016. Present: Rachelle Totten Christine Raymer Fern Tanasoponpitak Shawna Kozuchar Stephanie Feeney Judy Walcher Sheri Lakusta Ginger Turley Katie Cavaletto Carol DeFehr Call to Order: 6:19 p.m. Adoption of Agenda: Judy motioned; Christine seconded; All in favour. Adoption of AGM and General Minutes: Shawna motioned; Stephanie seconded; All in favour. Staff Meeting Report (Sheri): (a) Classroom Funds – teachers would like it back to $11/student for field trips - PAC has given each division $200 - If we add $11/student that is roughly another $3400 - Judy showed history since 2011 and money for field trips was not given along with classroom funds (b) Gymnastics – PAC has sponsored one session in past – PAC would like to see a change – examples of activities coming to school to avoid busing – ex. Speed Control (c) Milk Program – would like extras to go to hungry kids fund – PAC has no problem with this (d) Bathroom Taps – Stools purchased to help younger kids reach taps/soap (e) Hot Lunch – PAC would like to know field trips that happen to fall on Hot Lunch Days – Mrs. Primus’ class to McQueen Lake (Oct. 20th Hot Lunch) Principal’s Report (Carol): (1) New LART/BRT –Gurmale Svenson NEW CEA –Alison Raaby (2) Community Link Funding -$2500 awarded for three initiatives (Mug and Muffin - $1000, $1000 Virtues, $500 Hardship) (3) Use of Synervoice – no longer weekly – just for emergencies (4) Criminal Record Checks – needed for one to one work with students – needed for drivers? (b) Classroom Funds - $200/classroom and $11/child for field trips – does PAC want to purchase big ticket items this year? – discussed and tabled until ideas for other options reviewed.
