What is HDMI Certification? The HDMI consortium has created a certification level for HDMI products where the higher the certification number the higher the bandwidth handling capabilities and/or new features the cable can support such as audio video synch, one bit audio, DVD audio etc. For example HDMI certification 1.0 supports a throughput of 4.9 Gbps and certification level 1.3b1 supports a throughput of 10.2 Gbps. Additionally version 1.3a supports features that 1.0 does not provide such as support of the new Type C mini-connector for portable devices and automatic audio syncing.
