Here’s a guide to Pictbridge, and how it helps your printer deliver great images without crying over spilt ink. This is why the industry created Pictbridge; an industry standard technology that lets printers recognise and print image files without the need for a computer. If your printer and camera are both Pictbridge compatible, they can be connected directly via a USB lead. Each make of camera may require you to turn its Pictbridge features on in a different way. The user documentation will show you how. Once Pictbridge is activated on the camera, ensure you have connected it to a power source before you connect it to the printer via the USB cable. This is to stop the battery running out partway through the transfer which can cause damage to your files and images. When the two devices have recognised they are connected, use the settings on your camera to select the images you wish to print as well as any printing options. Once you’re happy, select the print option from the camera to get everything rolling. Many printers and cameras carry the Pictbridge technology. All that are compatible feature the logo on the box. However, some printers and cameras will offer more Pictbridge features than others. Check the specifications for details.
