Liberty connectors incorporate a fixed center pin which results in significant labor savings during termination. The cable conductor is retained by beryllium copper spring loaded fingers within the center pin – similar to the interface of a BNC plug and jack. This design eliminates the risk of altering the electrical properties due to a poor quality crimp or solder connection between the conductor and center pin. It also allows the cable assembly to be tested prior to crimping, saving time and materials. Once the connector is crimped, the typical pull strength is greater than or equal to the breaking strength of the cable. In addition to simplifying connector installation this connector design incorporates a viewing window for visual confirmation of proper installation, and can be tested prior to crimping. The fixed pin design also guarantees consistent pin height which is crucial to proper contact with the mating connector and, consequently, electrical performance.
