White Paper LaserJet M1120 MFP series – Windows 2003 Server (32-bits) Support Security Level: Customer Viewable Date Written/Updated: 2009-1-15 Document Summary  This document states M1120 MFP series support operating system Windows 2003 Server (32-bits) with basic print and scan driver only, not full software installation.  This document provides installation instruction of work around. Attention Users of Windows 2003 Server (32-bits) For Windows 2003 Server (32-bits) Edition only the printer driver and scan driver are supported by M1120 MFP series. CD auto-run installation is not recognizable. Please use the Plug and Play Bundle provided from HP website for driver installation. The difference between Full Installation Solution and Print/Scan PnP bundle for Windows 2003 Server 32bits for M1120 is as following:  Scan To utility is not provided by PnP bundle.  For M1120n, Full Installation Solution supports Network Port Monitor, but PnP bundle doesn’t support bidirectional communication." Go to www.hp.com website and search for products M1120/M1120n Go to Software & driver downloads page and choose “Microsoft Windows Server 2003” Download HP LaserJet Host-based Print/Scan Plug and Play Drivers Install the drivers by double clicking on the executable file downloaded Option 2: 1. Connect the unit to the PC using a USB cable, switch the LaserJet on. 2. The “Found New Hardware Wizard” will open and ask you for a connection to Windows Update. Choose “No, not this time.” 3. The wizard will ask for a HP Scan driver. Choose “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)”. 4. Choose “Search for the best drivers in these locations” and include the path where the installation CD is located. We used CD Version 2.0 downloadable on HP.COM for testing. 5. The wizard will install the “HP LaserJet M1120n MFP” scan driver. 6. Repeat the steps 2-5 for the printer driver. Now you will get again the described “The installation software is not supported on this OS…” error message, ignore and close it. Driver Installation Verification    To test the driver installation, open Printers and Faxes. The HP LaserJet M1120n MFP printer driver will be listed, print a Windows Test Page. To scan from the PC using WIA drivers (used by the Scanner and Camera Wizard) we had to enable the Windows Image Acquisition Service on our test PC manually. We noticed the startup type was set to “Disabled”. Configure the WIA service to startup “Automatic”. To test the scanner driver installation, open the Scanner and Camera Wizard and perform a scan.
