User’s guide Wire El-Jumbo User’s guide WIRE EL-JUMBO EL User’s guide Wire El-Jumbo Safety precautions: • • • • • • • • • • Before putting the machine into operation please read the safety precautions, manufacturer recommendation and the operation manual. The operation manual should be easily available at any time for the operator. The supplying cable should be protected against any damage, must not be used to pull the machine or to remove the plug from a socket. During a long standstill or before replacing the machine, the plug should be removed from a mains socket. The machine is turned off completely after removing the plug from a socket. The machine should be kept away from children’s reach. Do not use the machine for any other purposes than those in the operation manual. It is necessary to check and supervise if the machine operates correctly. In case of any malfunctions it is required to contact service point. Before removing any cover from the machine, unplug the machine from the socket. The machine should be operated according to general safety rules. Any repairs can be conducted only by authorised staff. Safety instructions: ♦ WIRE EL-JUMBO was designed for binding paper. Use the machine only according to its destination and do not try to bind any other material. Follow the operation manual to ensure long utilisation of your machine and protect it against any damage. ♦ The machine should be installed on a sturdy and level surface near the 230V socket. ♦ The machine should be protected against moisture, dust and sunshine. Do not place the machine near the heating units or ventilation units. ♦ Do not put your fingers inside the paper insert slot when binding the documents. ♦ Clean up the waste bin frequently. Recommendations Knives in El-Dorado Plastic were oiled to protect it against corrosion and ensure smooth operation of the machine. Before operating the machine for the first time, punch few sheets of paper to remove oil leftovers. Test punching with a piece of paper before binding official documents. Pointer adjustment User’s guide Wire El-Jumbo Operation NOTE! Before using the machine install all the elements of the machine. 1. Preparing before punching • Put the documents in order • Adjust margin depth with the paper margin knob (8). Push the knob delicately and turn it to the correct position. After releasing the knob automatically comes back to the starting position. Choose between four paper margin depths: 3mm/5mm/7mm/9mm • Set the punching position using paper sidegauge (3). Release the knob and choose one of three punching possibilities: A4 – 34 holes, A4 – 35 holes or 11” – 33 holes. Lock the paper sidegauge. Punching possibilities are indicated on the machine. • Please check margin and punching position before punching official documents 2. Punching • Insert the documents into the paper slot, so that it touches the sidegauge (3). Press the switch pad (7). • The machine is equipped with 35 releasable knives (2) → every knife can be released to adjust number of holes to the paper format. Punch all sheets completely at one time. NOTE! Do not exceed max punching capacity! 3. Binding • Adjust the comb size to the document thickness. The deeper paper margin is the larger comb should be. - The table below contains some rules for adjusting comb size to the document thickness. The number of sheets does not contain plastic covers. When the document is bound with the covers, please choose larger comb. Comb size 4,8 6,4 8 9,5 11 12,7 14,3 Max sheets number 20 35 50 65 80 90 120 • Open the flap (4) and insert the wire comb into the slot under the flap. Close the flap after adjusting comb to the proper closing size (see pic.1). • Insert sheets of paper into the open comb (see pic.2), open the flap (4) and pull the documents off (see pic.3). Put the wire comb with the documents into the pressing slot (1). - Machine is equipped with the magnet which attracts the wire comb into the pressing slot (1). • Set the comb size adjustment knob (10) using comb size indicator adjusting it to the comb size. • Press the pressing handle (9) down 2-3 times in order to clamp the wire comb precisely (see pic.4). Release the handle. • Take the documents out of the pressing slot – the documents are ready! User’s guide Wire El-Jumbo Possible malfunctions Malfunction 1. The paper cannot be punched 2. Bent paper margin 3. Paper is not completely punched and it is hard to pull it out of the paper slot 4. Paper cannot touch the back of the paper slot Cause Paper scraps or other material stuck inside the paper slot Remedy Clean up the paper slot Exceeded the punching capacity Reduce number of sheets punched at one time (according to the user’s guide) Pull out and insert the paper once again into the paper slot Paper bent when inserting the sheets into the paper slot Paper scraps or other material stuck inside the paper slot Exceeded the punching capacity Paper was folded inside the paper slot Clean up the paper slot Reduce number of sheets punched at one time (according to the user’s guide) Smooth the paper and insert it once again into the paper slot 4. Clearing up the waste bin Take out and empty the waste bin. Please clean up the waste bin regularly!
