General Description The Whisper D color changer provides accurate, high-speed scrolling and enhanced fan control. Lightweight, durable construction ensures trouble free operation. Two DC servomotors directly drive the color scrolls. An internal microprocessor controls the motors. The microprocessor uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) to control the position and velocity of each motor independently, ensuring correct gel string tension by driving the motors in opposite directions. When a new color position is selected the processor moves the scrolls at maximum speed until just before the final position. The movement is then damped for the remaining distance maintaining position accuracy. Operation or non-operation of the fan is accessed via DMX channels and remotely controlled by the lighting console. Operational modes are set using the 5 DIP switches on the color changer unit. When teamed with Compulite control consoles, unique scroller patching, special dark gel, and frame set up functions are available in the Scroller Patch menu. Whisper is compatible with Compulite’s Sabre, Ovation 4D, Micron 4D, Spark 4D, Spark, and Photon control consoles. Whisper D is suitable for 1kW luminaries. Maximum gel string length is 11or16 frames. Fan speed can be controlled from the lighting console.

Scrolls the gel string from end to end once every 10 seconds.
Control Panel
Fan Control The Fan Control function is especially useful in studios. Operation or non-operation of the fan is accessed through DMX channels, controlled by the lighting console.

Dark Gels Dark Gels, when controlled by the local DIP switch settings, are always frames 4 & 5. Cut frames 4 and 5 as one double length frame (short frames 56 cm; long frames (69.2 cm). Set the DIP switches for Dark Gel (see above). The Gel string is controlled as 9 (instead of 11) or 14 (instead of 16) frames.

1. Open the top cover by rotating the quick release catches on the top of the unit and remove. 2. Remove the spools. 3. Attach the gel string to the spools making sure that they are securely taped. 4. Wind up the gel string. 5. Insert both spools.
They lock into place when the notches are correctly positioned.
6. Replace and tighten the top cover. 7. Connect power.
Whisper homes. The gel string is automatically aligned, correct tension is attained, and the unit memorizes the end-position.
