Step 1: Install Wizard valve train housing unit Decide on position for housing to be secured against the wall. 10. The valve train housing unit should now be working correctly and you are now ready to install the pump into the tank. Step 2: Install isolation valve and Pressure Limiting Valve on Mains water line going to the inlet side of the Wizard valve train housing unit. 1. After system is plumbed in DO NOT plug in mains power or pump. FIRST open mains water supply from street 2. OPEN one tap connected to device to allow trapped air MAINS IN to be released. Once done, CLOSE this tap so no water is flowing MAINS OUT 3. REFER TO TOP OF COVER – remove rubber cap to expose Pressure Controller start up adjustment screw. Use a 6mm flat screwdriver & turn screw until it does not turn in the +ve clockwise direction. DO NOT OVER TURN THE SCREW WITH EXCESSIVE PRESSURE. 4. PLUG IN MAIN POWER ONLY & SWITCH ON 5. Run unit for ~ 2 minutes 6. REFER TO LED INDICATOR ON FRONT Power, Mains Water and Tank Water. Check that Power LED is on – if not check power source to the device. 7. If Mains Water LED is extinguished then no further adjustment is needed. Replace the rubber grommet onto the cover securely. 8. If the Mains Water LED light in on - SLOWLY TURN the adjustment screw in the counterclockwise -ve direction until the mains LED extinguishes. You must then turn the screw a further 1/2 turn in the counterclockwise -ve direction. Replace the rubber grommet onto the cover securely. 9. Plug in the pump lead into the device 4 Step 3: Install submersible pump 1. Install the pump so that is sits vertically on the base of the rainwater tank (this may be on concrete or directly on tank base). Ensure that the area that is free of turbulence and does not cause the pump to take air in. 2. Set up pump with pump riser and strainer prior to installation in the tank 3. Locate the pump and its float switches (if applicable) away from the tank inlet, or use baffle plates, to protect against air swirls and turbulence. INSTALLATION WITH SUBMERSIBLE PUMP Step 6: Connecting Unit to power 4. Arrange pipes so as to prevent air locks from forming along the pipe. 1. Plug Pump power lead into Wizard valve train housing unit socket located at front of unit 5. Do not force or stretch the cable during pump install to avoid damage to the cable or plates – this will void warranty and likely cause leakage Step 7: Testing 1. Ensure tank has sufficient water. Water must be filled 300mm over the top of submersible pump to cover completely. The Wizard Submersible Pump is supplied with a base, therefore it can be installed to sit on the base of the tank. If suspending pump: 2. Turn off isolation valve so main water supply is on to the unit The installation water depth should be less than 5m, the distance between the pump base and bottom should be larger than 150mm. Step 4: Check piping aligns the mains and rainwater pipe. Step 5: Once pump is installed connect to the Wizard valve 3. If outside tap is installed use this for initial testing to remove air in the line from the pump to valve train housing unit. 4. Turn on mains water supply to unit and retest train housing unit • It is recommended that a filter is installed between the pump and valve train housing unit • If filter is fitted then ensure easy maintenance can be carried out. If filter if fitted then ensure water can pass through (remove plastic wrapping from inside of filter before install) Distribution Points Mains Water Pressure Limiting Valve Isolation Valve Up to 3 +1 +1 5 INSTALLATION WITH JET PUMP 2) ABOVE GROUND PUMP INSTALLATION WITH JET PUMP: You will need: Spanners, thread tape, spade bit, hole saw, masonry Drill, wall plugs and screws. Step 1: Locate the ideal pump position (i.e. clean, level, dry and no further than 3m from tank). Step 2: Connect the pump to the water tank using 25mm PVC pipe (Class 9 minimum) or 25mm Metric Poly (minimum pressure rating PN8). Install inline filter. Step 3: Install Wizard. Decide on position for Wizard to be secured against the wall or at top of tank cover. There will need to be a power point within reach (1 metre). Please note that long extension leads will cause voltage to drop and may lead to poor performance and motor overload. (Ensure there is 300mm clearance at top of unit to allow for pressure adjustment and servicing of the unit) Step 4: Check piping aligns the mains and rainwater pipe. Step 5: Install Isolation Valve and Pressure Limiting Valve on Mains water line going to the inlet side of the Wizard. Step 6: Connect the unit to household 1. Connect the unit to mains water Inlet connection 2. Connect the outlet on the Wizard to the back into main line to toilets and laundry 3. The following points will ensure an air tight connection is made • Ensure joints are clean • Ensure good quality thread tape is used (pink) • Do not over tighten joint • Check for leaks Step 7: Once pump is installed connect to the Wizard please refer to recommendations below • It is recommended that a filter is installed on the pump inlet line • It is a requirement if the tank outlet is positioned lower than the pump that a inline check valve be installed Step 8: Connecting Unit to power 1. Plug Pump power lead into Wizard unit socket located at front of unit 2. Connect Wizard power lead to weather proof power point Step 9: Testing 1. Ensure tank has sufficient water filled 300mm over tank outlet 2. Check if filter is fitted supplied plastic cover is removed 3. Prime the pump as per commissioning procedure (see below) 4. Turn on isolation valve so main water supply is on to the unit 5. If outside tap is installed use this for initial testing Priming of Pump 1. Fill tank to a level above the draw off point (see Important Note). 2. Turn on the water supply from the tank. 3. Prime the pump by removing the priming point from the top of pump chamber and allowing the tank water to fill the pump chamber, or by filling the pump chamber with water from an external supply. Once this is done refit the Priming point (see Figure 1.1). 4. Turn on the power supply (at power point) which will start the pump, this will run until the air in the system is pressurized. 5. At this stage turn on the Mains water supply Figure 1.1 : Priming point 6 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE Installation Tips: • The Wizard is designed to be installed against the wall of a home. Although the cover is waterproof, the system should ideally be installed in a covered area. • Please only mount Wizard in a place that will not be subject to freezing – this will damage the system. • Make sure the water inside the tank is clean (it may be necessary to flush out pipes also) • Do not use the system for any other purpose other than what is specified in this manual. • Pressure limiting valve must be fitted to unit which is supplied in the box . OPERATION Before you start: 1) Wizard is designed to handle clean water, do not use the system to supply bore water, dam water, grey water, storm water or recycled water 2) Ensure wiring, plumbing and the system are not accessible by children or pets Turning on/off: • To assist in the longevity of the unit the pump should be switched off if the tank will be empty for long periods of time • Other than that the unit can be left switched on Pressure Limiting Valve Maximising performance: - Install a flush system to the home guttering to divert the initial run of water – this may contain dirt and pollutants - Fit a strainer to the top of your tank inlet to stop leaves entering the system - 25mm PVC (CL9 or CL12) pipe should be used between tank, pump and the Wizard. ADG does not recommend the use of poly pipe of clear tubing as this may kink and cause issues with the performance. If PVC CL9 or CL12 is not used, warranty on the product may be void. - Isolation valve should be installed prior to the Wizard unit to allow the unit to be isolated for maintenance when required. MAINTENANCE Whilst the Wizard does not require regular maintenance we do suggest you carry out the following to ensure its most reliable performance: 1) Clean gutters regularly and ensure water in the tank is kept clean 2) Clean inline filters if installed Isolation Valve Please note the inlet filter must be purchased separately. 7 TROUBLESHOOTING FOR SUBMERSIBLE PUMP The Problem The Fix 1. No Tank Water being delivered when Tap turned on • Check that power is available and turned on at both the power point and on the switch on the pump • Check circuit breakers/safety switch not activated • Check Tank level • Check in line filter is not blocked • Turn on closest tap connected to unit, hold reset button for 30 sec to ensure all air locks are cleared 2. Pump running but cutting out after a short period of time • Check that there is water in the tank above the draw line • Ensure plastic sleeve has been removed from inline filter (on install only) • Turn on closest tap connected to unit, hold reset button for 30 sec to ensure all air locks are cleared 3. System running on mains water only • • • • 4. System running on mains water and tank water at the same time • Check that the solenoid is connected inside valve train housing unit • Turn off mains, open solenoid valve and clean diaphragm 5. Pump runs but no water is pumped through the system • Turn on closest tap connected to unit, hold reset button for 30 sec to ensure all air locks are cleared Check that power is available Check that pump turned on Check that is water available in the tank Turn on closest tap connected to unit, hold reset button for 30 sec to ensure all air locks are cleared 6. Pump not switching to tank / Pump • Check that there is a pressure limiting valve on inlet side from water main not cutting in when water demand is • Ensure pressure gauge on unit is no more than 4 bar if so PLV may be faulty required • Pressure adjust required (refer to installation) • If YES, turn off mains water to unit and adjust screw on top of pressure controller (Blue Unit) two turns in a clockwise direction - this will increase cut in pressure to 2.2 bar (refer to diagram on page 2) 8. Low flow or water pressure A - Pump issue Low flow or water pressure through system when running off the pump supply B - Mains water issue Low flow or low water pressure through system when running off the mains water supply • Check strainer on pump as this could be blocked • Inline filter blocked • Worn pump may require replacement 9. No water supply at all • Mains water valve closed • If any flexible hose has been used check for kinks • Blockage in system o Check PLV Valve is installed correctly o Dual Check Valve o Solenoid Valve At initial install stage pump is not switching on on demand Pressure adjustment by turning screw at top of unit twice 8 • Check for kinks in pipe work • Solenoid Valve could be blocked • Dual check valve or pressure limiting valve my need checking TROUBLESHOOTING FOR JET PUMP The Problem The Fix Pump not working when turned on. Check that power is available and turned on at the power point. Pump running but cutting out after a short period of time. Check that there is water in the tank above the draw line and that the tap on the tank is open. System running on mains water only. Check that power is available and turned on and that there is water available in the tank. System running on mains water and tank water at the same time. Check that the solenoid is connected. Pump runs but no water is pumped through the system. Check that the pump has been primed (refer to commissioning section of manual). At initial install stage pump is not switching on on demand. Pressure adjustment by turning screw at top of unit twice. 9 WATERBOY WARRANTY CONSUMER GUARANTEE Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
