Woundcare Robinson Healthcare has a long and proud history in the design and production of woundcare products, dating back to the 1850’s and the manufacture of surgical dressings during the Crimean War. Today’s products comply with the latest standards and regulations and complement other professional healthcare products in the range. Cleanroom Manufacturing
High Performance Materials
Compliance with legislation and standards is fundamental to Robinson Healthcare’s philosophy. All Robinson Healthcare woundcare products are medical devices, manufactured to comply with the Medical Devices Directive 93/42 EEC. Products such as Fast Aid® Adhesive Dressings, which are Class 1 Sterile products, are manufactured in a cleanroom with hygienic packaging facilities.
Different grades of raw material are available for products. Using the wrong one to save costs is a false economy if the product fails to perform effectively and doesn’t meet the expectations of medical professionals. Robinson Healthcare use only high performance materials to ensure that the end product is not only safe and fit for purpose, but also to deliver customer satisfaction.
Situated at Robinson Healthcare’s manufacturing facility in Worksop, the cleanroom is operated and independently validated to BS EN ISO 14644-1: 1999, the European standard for cleanrooms and associated controlled environments.
Fast Aid® Adhesive Dressings utilise high quality substrates that are strong, durable, long lasting and yet highly conformable, so that they can be comfortably used in awkward areas. A strong, long lasting adhesive ensures that the dressings stay in place, which is also hypoallergenic and therefore gentle to even the most sensitive of skins. Even for seemingly simple products such as this, Robinson Healthcare demonstrates its commitment to exceed customer expectations.
Clinically Proven & Cost Effective The same level of care is also taken in the manufacture of the components that comprise the Ultra Four® Multi-Layer Bandage System. Estimated to cost the NHS around £400m per year4, leg ulceration is associated mostly with venous disease and is a large problem in the UK with approximately 59% of leg ulcers being of venous origin3. Ultra Four® is used in the management of venous leg ulcers and is considered a Gold Standard system. It is clinically proven and provides a cost effective method of treatment1,2. Many clinical trials have been carried out using Ultra Four®, which achieves an 83% healing rate in 20 weeks1, saving the NHS money by reducing the time that leg ulcer patients require treatment compared to similar products that achieve the same rate of healing but in 24 weeks1,5,6.
Higher Specification – As Standard Ultra Four® was also the first multi-layer bandage system to be completely 100% free from natural rubber latex as standard, including the cohesive bandage layer. This is at no additional cost to the NHS or other users, compared to many competitors’ systems that charge extra for subsequently introduced latex free versions. This is significant for both patients and professionals alike. Latex free products reduce the chance of allergy related complications or sensitisation for patients during treatment. For professionals, it reduces the chance of becoming sensitive to natural rubber latex.
Continual Development Robinson Healthcare is committed to continue the company’s long tradition of manufacturing high quality woundcare products. All production batches are tested in one of the two on site laboratories to ensure that manufacturing standards are maintained and complete customer satisfaction achieved. The same testing facility is also utilised in a programme of new product development, developing woundcare products for Robinson Healthcare’s future.

Cestra® Primary Dressing BP Cestra® Primary is a sterile, low adherent wound contact layer used as an interface layer to prevent absorbent secondary dressings adhering to the wound. Manufactured from knitted viscose, Cestra® Primary conforms fully to the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) monograph. It is particularly indicated for use on highly exuding chronic wounds such as leg ulcers and especially with multilayer bandage systems.

Cestra® Primary is larger than most knitted viscose dressings, measuring 12.5 x 14.5cm. This larger size allows for coverage for 93% of all wounds*, which is more convenient and cost effective as one dressing is easier to hold in place rather than two smaller dressings. Cestra® Primary is highly conformable and can remain in-situ when the secondary dressing is changed. • Effective low adherent wound contact layer • Particularly indicated for highly exuding chronic wounds • Larger 12.5 x 14.5cm size allow for coverage of 93% of all wounds* • Cost effective and time saving for clinicians • Supplied in individual sterile packs

Cestra® Skintact Cestra® Skintact is a high quality, sterile, perforated film absorbent dressing that is used as a low adherent wound contact layer. The dressing is the same on both sides, which prevents it being used “wrong side down”. It consists of two layers of perforated film with an inner absorbent layer. The perforations allow drainage of exudate to the absorbent layer where fluid is wicked laterally, extending the time before strike through occurs. Skintact is suitable for the management of minor wounds, cuts and grazes and is ideal for use in chiropody thanks to the two low adherent sides, for use between toes. Dressings are supplied in individual sterile packs in a choice of three sizes, packed in dispensing boxes of 100. • Low adherent wound dressing, easily removed without trauma • The same on both sides – hence suitable for patient own use as it cannot be applied “wrong side down” • Superior wicking spreads fluid laterally and reduces dressing change frequency • Pads, cushions and protects healing wounds • Supplied in individual sterile packs and dispensing boxes

Ultra Four® Multi-Layer Bandage System Ultra Four® is a multi-layer compression bandage system for the management of venous leg ulcers and associated conditions. Supplied as a series of kits to suit various aetiologies and ankle circumferences, Ultra Four® is clinically proven and provides a cost effective method of treatment1,2. High Performance Leg ulceration is associated mostly with venous disease and is a large problem in the UK with approximately 59% of leg ulcers being of venous origin3, costing the NHS around £400m per year4. Many clinical trials have been carried out on multi-layer bandage systems. Ultra Four achieved 83% healing rate in 20 weeks1, very similar to other trials that have taken place (83% over 24 weeks1,5,6) and so is clinically proven to be effective. Latex Free as Standard Ultra Four® is also 100% free from natural rubber latex as standard, at no additional cost. This is significant as it reduces the chance of allergy or sensitisation complications for patients during treatment. It is equally important for professionals who may become sensitive to natural rubber latex. System Components Each Ultra Four® kit is made up of three or four bandage layers, dependant on ankle circumference or aetiology, plus a primary wound contact dressing. The function of each is listed below:
