PoE-Texas LLC 3616 Far West Blvd Suite 117-294 Austin TX 78731 http://poe-texas.com Wifi-Texas Brand WT-AF-5v10w V5 OEM 802.3af to 5v Splitter This device provides a low cost solution for delivering power to a 5 volt device over 328ft of network cable. This splitter allows power to be by either 802.3af, 802.3at, or passive injectors or switches. Any CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT7 Ethernet network cable can be used. A variety of connectors are available including USB, microUSB, lightning, etc.. Intended to power tablets including iPads, non-Poe cameras like Foscam, Raspberry Pi, Dropcams and other 5 volt products, this compact and efficient solution is compatible with POE switches and injectors from all vendors. This active PoE splitter negotiates with the switch to activate power and provide it to the client device. The PoE injector or switch supplies 48 or 56 volts DC at the source location. These DC voltages means the current is reduced by a factor of 9 compared to 5 volts, and then carried with 90% less loss over the Ethernet cable from the source. The 5v splitter at the remote end allows you to extend the distance for this application up to 328ft or 100 meters.. Step 1) use an Ethernet cable to connect the RJ45 female to your PoE switch up to 100 meter distance Step 2) connect the splitter male RJ45 to your device if needed Step 3) connect the cable adapter DC output to your device The Ethernet cable can be 568A or 568B style, and only 2 pairs (orange and green) are required. Specifications Power source DC output RJ 45 female connector ZHR-10 pin connector Connecting cables available: RJ-45, Lightning, microUSB with 90 degree or straight ends, Female USB, or 1.35 x 3.5mm, 2.1x5.5mm, Rasberry Pi Data+Power input Pins (mode A/B 802.3af) Input Voltage Input Current at 48v Output Voltage Max load (5v10w) Output Voltage no load Operating Temperature Size Weight Isolation 1&2 and 3&6 – either polarity 4&5 and 7&8 – either polarity (for V5 only) Min 44 volts - Max Up to 57 volts 265 ma input delivers 2 amps out 5v +- 2% at 2 amps 10 watts 5.2v 0°C ~ 50°C 24 x 30 x 80 mm with 32 cm cord 2.5 ounces 3,000 volt isolation between PoE and power out URL: http://poe-texas.com Set Up Use with any 802.3af compliant switch or injector. If you would like more information on how to use our splitters to have power and data at your iPad, see our article on this topic: http://wifi-texas.com/iOS-USB3/ This device is not for use with a 24 volt passive system. Not sure what type of PoE you have? Let us help. Our PoE-Tester can tell you everything you need to know about what kind of PoE you have. POE-Tester When selecting a power supply, consider the number of devices being powered. For example, if you have 10 iPADs on one injector, each iPAD can draw up to 10 watts plus cable and conversion losses. You will want to buy a device with at least 10 ports and a power supply with at least 120 watts. Troubleshooting “I’ve plugged it in, and nothing happens. The lights don’t turn on” - After confirming switch or injector is plugged in and the Ethernet cable is connected to the POE side of the injector, a common problem is confirming what type of power you have. Is it between 44 and 57 volts? Do you have enough power in watts to supply all the units you have on the injector? “Only one of the LED lights is on” - The green light indicates the device is receiving POE; the yellow, the device is putting out power. If the yellow light is off, there’s likely a short in on device side in the cable or 5v device. “When I plug in the cables, the injector starts to blink and nothing powers up” - Most likely there is a short in one of the cables. Disconnect all the POE side cables. Then connect them one at time to find which cable or device has shorted out. If you’ve tried all this and you’re still not getting the response you need, please call our US-based technical experts who will be happy to troubleshoot or resolve your situation. 512-479-0317 URL: http://poe-texas.com Other Products for Your Project Need redundancy? Our WS-Failover device with back-up power supply ensures you have continuous power if a power supply, UPS, or outlet fails. Have other devices to connect? See our full range of WT-AF5v10w devices with connectors including microUSB (right angle and left angle), female USB, 1.35 mm or other direct power connectors. These devices also include data lines with up to gigabit speeds. Need and injector or switch? Our injectors, a device where you plug a data cable from a router or switch into one side and get data and PoE out the other (one port to one port), range from 1 port to 24 for use with iPads. They even come kitted with power supplies. Injectors with 1-8 ports are wall mounted; 1224 are rack mounted. A switch requires only one data cable in to have 7 ports of power and data*. *Data not required for powering iPads only.
