POWERTRAN X 8018 DIGITAL MAINS TIMER INSTRUCTIONS Please read instructions carefully before connecting timer to mains power source or appliance. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not plug in an appliance where the load exceeds 10A. Do not spill liquid on the timer or immerse in water. Heaters and similar appliances should never be left running whilst unattended. We recommend not using heaters with this timer. When information on the screen is flashing, the timer is in “SET” mode. UP/DOWN: Allows you to cycle through and adjust program setting. CD: Allows setting of countdown timer function RANDOM: Set or cancel random on/off switching function MANUAL: Switches between ON/AUTO/OFF modes. OPERATION: Before programming timer, plug the unit into a GPO mains outlet for approximately 14 hours for charging of memory backup battery. Using a pen, press the RESET button on the front of the timer. This procedure clears the memory of any program settings. Setting The Current Time 1. Press UP or DOWN button until “CLOCK” displays in the LCD 2. Press SET button for 2 seconds. On the LCD, the day of the week will flash. To adjust it to the correct day press the UP and DOWN buttons. 3. Press SET button again and the hour setting will flash. To adjust it to the correct hour press the UP and DOWN buttons. 4. Press SET button again and the minute setting will flash. To adjust it to the correct minute press the UP and DOWN buttons. 5. Press SET button again and the timer will return to clock display mode. Setting Programs When setting programs ensure that they do not overlap. Especially when using the various day combinations available. If settings overlap the timer will execute ON or OFF commands according to program time, not according to program number. Program OFF has priority over program ON. To activate your program settings the timer must be set in AUTO mode and the random or countdown functions must be turned off. 1. Press UP or DOWN button until the LCD shows “ON 1”. This represents program number 1, ON activation time. 2. Press SET button. At the top of the LCD the day of the week will flash. To adjust it to the desired day press the UP and DOWN buttons. 3. Press SET button again and the hour setting will flash. To adjust it to the desired hour press the UP and DOWN buttons. 4. Press SET button again and the minute setting will flash. To adjust it to the desired minute press the UP and DOWN buttons. 5. Press SET button again and the timer will display the program details as selected. 6. Press UP button to change to “OFF 1” program. This allows you to set a switch OFF time for your appliance. Repeat steps 2 to 5 to set this program as desired. This process can be repeated for all 10 program numbers if required.
Manual ON/ Auto/Manual OFF Setup: Press the MANUAL button to cycle through the 3 timer modes (shown on the LCD as ON, AUTO and OFF). • Programmed operation times will only activate when the timer is set to AUTO. • In MANUAL ON mode power is always provided to the appliance as if it was plugged directly into the mains outlet. • In MANUAL OFF mode power to the appliance is removed.
Random Function: When this function is activated the appliance will activate for random periods (between 10 and 31 minutes) from the hours of 6:00pm to 6:00am. All program settings will be ignored. • Random function can only be selected when the timer is in clock display mode. To activate press RANDOM button. An “R” icon displays on the LCD. • Ensure timer is set to AUTO mode. Countdown Function: Countdown function turns your appliance ON or OFF at the end of a set period. The maximum period is 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds. The countdown function will only execute when the timer is set in AUTO mode and the RANDOM function is switched off. 1. Press UP or DOWN button until the LCD shows “CD”. 2. Press SET button. ON or OFF will flash on the LCD. To select whether you wish to turn the appliance ON or OFF after the countdown time press the UP or DOWN button. 3. Press SET button again and the hour setting will flash. To adjust it to the desired hour press the UP and DOWN buttons. 4. Press SET button again and the minute setting will flash. To adjust it to the desired minute press the UP and DOWN buttons. 5. Press SET button again and the timer will display the countdown details as selected. 6. Press CD button to activate the countdown timer. Press CD again to reset. 24 Hour Mode To switch between 12 & 24 hour clock modes, press the CD and SET button simultaneously. Daylight Saving Function To switch between daylight saving time and winter time press the MANUAL and SET buttons simultaneously. The LCD will display an “S” icon and the clock will change automatically. IMPORTANT NOTE: For correct operation ensure the timer is set in the correct mode. Program times will not execute when timer is in MANUAL OFF, MANUAL ON, COUNTDOWN or RANDOM modes. They will only execute when set in AUTO mode.
