Adaptive Wireless Solutions, LLC. 577 Main Street Hudson, MA 01749 XYR5000 SERIES WIRELESS TRANSMITTERS SUPPORTED BY: ADAPTIVE WIRELESS SOLUTIONS www.adaptive-wireless.com (978) 875-6000 Today you need a simple and easily configured means of collecting process information to a centralized control point from multiple hazardous areas that are without power. The XYR5000 range of instruments from Adaptive Wireless Solutions (AWS) does exactly that and is fully compatible with your present Honeywell XYR5000 installation. Installation, programming, user interface and Modbus configuration are not impacted – AWS designed the original Honeywell XYR5000 product so these units are fully compatible. AWS-XYR5000 Wireless Transmitters These XYR5000 transmitters allow you to place sensors where you need them, even if there’s no power, and even if the areas are Class I Div. I. Fully certified with FM / CSA / ATEX, smaller than the Honeywell units so they fit almost anywhere, and are supported into the future by AWS; these wireless sensors reach your plant, return the values to a base radio and need essentially no maintenance. The battery lifetime is measured in multiple years (rate dependent) and matches anything available in the industry. Each sensor/instrument reports to a centralized Base Radio, which interconnects with standard DCS protocols, over Modbus RTU serial ports. The Base Radio can also be supplied with outputs (e.g. 4-20mA loop) that track the remote sensor values for the simplest possible interconnection to your legacy systems. Forget complex setups and retraining to new systems. Use AWS-XYR5000 to supplement your present system – seamlessly. These instruments use ISM band (915 and 868MHz) transceivers that communicate using a digital protocol called frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS). FHSS technology continuously moves the  carrier frequency and provides immunity to interference. Multiple radio installations can share the same space at the same time using  different network IDs. Enjoy the Benefits of Wireless Technology Seamless integration of XYR5000 transmitters provide information that helps you achieve key objectives: Improve Product Quality — Improve measurement accuracy and consistency by replacing manual readings with automated data collection. Real-time data helps ensure precise time tracking of information for use in troubleshooting process problems. Ensure High Uptime — more frequent measurements and early detection of asset problems can reduce or even prevent incidents and accidents Reduce Maintenance and Operational Costs — XYR transmitters allow you to monitor furnaces, pumps, heat exchangers, and steam traps to support proactive, predictive maintenance. They help identify potential costly problems, like excess energy and raw materials use. Once XYR5000 units are in place, you’ll make better use of personnel time. Enhance Flexibility — Because XYR5000 transmitters are so easy and affordable to install, you can add or change measurements as needed. This flexibility supports process improvement and development of new and better products in pilot plants. Each base radio supports up to 100 field units! A complete XYR5000 compatible wireless system includes: Wireless Base Radio: one base radio per every 100 communicating field devices, with the corresponding number of quad analog output modules into Modbus RTU serial ports. Wireless management toolkit software: including running the RF server, configuration, and management tools. (Required for configuring output modules.) Any combination of field transmitters for pressure, differential pressure, analog input, acoustic signals, or temperature. Meet Regulatory Requirements — Record changes and send data to the control system for date and time stamping. XYR instruments allow flexible monitoring of process variables throughout critical phases of your process. XYR5000 transmitters support safety by reducing human exposure to hazardous areas and products. They also help improve waste treatment processes and reduce environmental impact by enabling online measurement of remote variables like waste pond level. Overcome Measurement Hurtles  Cost — Going wireless means faster, easier installation and wiring (savings of $75 to $150 per foot, depending on the environment)  Time — Simplified installation for faster start-ups  Range — Measurements transmitted up to 2000 feet, through minimal metalwork obstructions. Actual range may vary depending on topography  Ruggedness — Rated for industrial use, XYR transmitters go where you don’t want to: hazardous, remote, or hard-to-reach locations  Accuracy — Gauge pressure, absolute pressure, temperature, analog input devices offer exceptional accuracy of ±0.1% full scale reading at reference conditions.  Reliability — XYR5000 transmitters feature long battery life (3 to 5 years) and a low-battery alarm. Self-checking tools continuously monitor operation to identify and report sensor or derive parameters that are out of spec. www.adaptive-wireless.com http://xyr5000-support.com 978-875-6000 20377-06 Adaptive Wireless Solutions, LLC. 577 Main Street Hudson, MA 01749 www.adaptive-wireless.com (978) 875-6000 \ Absolute Pressure Range Accuracy 30 and 250 PSIA 0.1% Gauge Pressure 30, 250, 1000, and 5000 PSIG Differential Pressure 100” or 300” H2O, 25, 100, and 300 PSI 0.1% 0.2% Temperature Two T/C or one RTD by Model Discrete Input Analog Input Two inputs, dry contact only, 1 KOhm max impedance Two 4-20mA, 0-10 Volt 0.1% Acoustic 40 KHz main frequency direction, 5 KHz bandwidth 0.1% Specifications for All XYR5000 Transmitters Communications Wireless Communication: 902–928 MHz Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS); FCC certified ISM license-free band; Every data block transmitted is verified (CRC check) and acknowledged by the Base Radio RF Transmit Power: 31 mW, 17.8 mW typical Data Rate: Configurable: 4.8 Kbps, 19.2 Kbps, or 76.8 Kbps Parameter Configuration Antenna: Internal 3” omnidirectional, 1/4 wave, monopole Two membrane switches on the unit’s front allow configuration of: Signal Range: Up to 2000 feet (600 meters) from Base Radio through minimal metalwork obstructions. Manual leak detection monitoring is time dependent and costly, so plant engineers typically look for an automated method of identifying leaks. But, signal wiring for an automatic warning system would greatly exceed the cost of the transducers. Steam leaks generate high frequency waves. XYR5000 wireless acoustic transmitters measure these waves and report the data back to your control room. They provide reliable leak detection without the need for costly tray and conduit wiring. Services management includes configuring the quad analog output modules and field unit threshold settings, process monitoring in real time, and data acquisition. The software is required for configuration of all output modules. The software can be run on multiple computers at once, so you can view and manage the wireless system from anywhere on your plant network. The computer that connects directly to the base radio network runs in Server mode; other connected computers run as clients. Other than the connection to the base radio, the client and server computers can perform the same configuration, monitoring, and management tasks. The software provides multiple levels of access control (Administrator, Read/Write, and Read-Only). An event log is maintained to track configuration changes. Application: Remote tank level monitoring Problem: Customer needed the ability to monitor tank levels on a real-time basis instead of having operators do manual dip-stick tests during the day. Existing Business Results Human error: Operators would report their dip-stick results on paper. If they inverted a number in reporting paperwork or put data in the wrong fields, it increased the possibility of spills. Based on this data, purchasing ordered unnecessary deliveries, or didn’t order when they needed to, resulting in a lack of inventory to supply to their end users. EPA problems: Spills and their Accessories cleanup cost between $5000 and $6000 per incident. Solution The customer installed Honeywell XYR5000 wireless transmitters and paperless recorders to monitor storage tank levels on a continuous basis. High limit alarms on the recorder initiate audible alarms when there’s danger of overfilling, reducing the possibility of spills. Business Results After Installation Operators use the recorder’s web interface to monitor inventory levels. Purchasing and accounting departments have access to the same data, making their jobs easier. The Honeywell solution helped eliminate costs and constant safety issues associated with chemical spills. www.adaptive-wireless.com http://xyr5000-support.com 978-875-6000 20377-06
